I rent a condo and was wondering if I should get an insurance... fire, smoke, water and 3rd party damage.

For any type of property it is advisable to have insurance cover. With condos in general one tends to have less control over external forces e.g. how the building was built and therefore the quality of (say) the indoor pipework. There are many claims for water damage where they have used the cheap blue pvc piping internally and it has given way.
