My husband and I both work for a Thai university. We've been here more than six years. He applied for perm. residence in December 2006. I applied in 2007. Normally, we were told, we would get an answer within a year of application, but whenever we ask at Immigration, we're told that the necessary committee to make the decisions (which includes high level representatives from every branch of the government and civil service including, believe it or not, the Tourism Authority of Thailand!) hasn't met yet. So after close to three years, in my husband's case, we still don't have a yes or no decision.

We've assumed that the last few years of political turmoil have caused the process to grind to a halt, but I've started to wonder. Has anyone on the forum received a Permanent Residence permit since December 2006? If so, what is your nationality? And under which of the different categories (working, expert, family support, etc.) did you apply?

Thanks very much.
