Really Bad Traffic

Featured Replies

I notice that Bangkok traffic is at its worse on Saturdays. every Saturday is the same. why is this do you think? no schools and much less people working would make you think that the Traffic would be good.

I drove to Paragon from Bang-Na this afternoon and it took forever, much longer than a rush hour Friday morning. this happens very often. then when we got to Paragon there was no parking, choca block. normaly you can find a space if you go right to the top but not today.

Well, hopefully in the not too distant future you'll be able to take the SKYTRAIN.

FYI, I was downtown yesterday, from out east of Rangsit, down to Pratunam, parked at Pantip Plaza, picked up some goodies, then drove down to Sukumvit Soi 11 for lunch. Then back sois to Asoke, right on Petchburi, down to the Ekamai turnoffs to head north on the Atnarong-Ramintra Expressway. All this with not much in the way of traffic, except on Petchaburi in the Pantip area.

I think a lot of it is because, like you, many people go out to do their shopping on Saturday.

Every Thai I know spends more on their car than they do on their children; what better way to spend their weekend, therefore, than in a traffic jam?

The only way to beat the queues is to realize that everyone wants to do the same thing at the same time; leave home very early and you'll be tired but less stressed. Or take the bus, taxi or, when it arrives, sky-train.

I would take the skytrain but we have a pushchair in tow, so thats why I drove and will drive next time, but I will never go to Paragon on a weekend again, that was just mad.

Saturday afternoon shoppers. I live in the area and it is always this way on Saturdays.

Same in Ubon Ratchatani, I would almost go to say it is the worst day of the week for traffic.

Saturday mornings are not usually that busy. Sundays always much less traffic all day.
