First attempt at ever using this site to post something so hope it works.

Want to start residency application process this year and don't want to do all the admin myself as work too long hours and travel too much. Been to see one law firm and costs quoted seem astronomical so wondered if anyone had any advice on most cost effective firms could use?

Don't!

You speak, read and write Thai?

thats pretty stupid advice..and your assertions are based on...what?

Anyway, here is the guide to PR if you haven't seen it already.

In terms of cost effectiveness, I think all law firms will charge an arm and a leg for a process which is essentially DIY...if you have the time. Why not send the secretary down to collect the paperwork, fill it in, and start helping you to collect the documentation?

Thanks for reply. I travel loads for work so not sure could do myself. I speak Thai but don't read or write it but have made a start at learning. Will maybe just give the application a try myself. There is someone at work who did it themselves so will speak to them again.

I did it by myself when I applied in 2006, with some help from the wife. It was not difficult, but a bit time consuming. The people in immigration are very friendly and helpful, though, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Also, while by all accounts the oral test has got a bit harder since then, its still not very difficult. As far as I know there is still no reading/writing test for PR?

Good luck.
