Well call me stupid but where I come from the fly screens on your window are on the out side of your glass window. But not in my house :D So every time I want to open the window I have to open the fly screen first by that time all the flies ( I don't mind them ) but all the mosquitoes come in before I close the fly screen. I s that normal in Thailand to attach the fly screens on the inside or did I have one of those good thai tradesman :)

You could always go outside and open your windows that way............................

Sorry, I'll get my coat.

Yeah thanks what about the top floors?

Many Thai windows open outwards, so it is just not possible to put the screen outside.

If you have sliding windows then the screen can be outside.

Maybe but I have sliding glass windows :)

Maybe because with the screens on the inside and the windows closed, from the outside, looking at the house, it looks much more tidier?

I am not thai as you know ( no offence to thai people) but I clean my windows every week :)

Ok i'm puzzled here.

Forgive me, not much experiece in this matter as i come from the northern climes of europe, but;

Surely the fly-screens are supposed to be on the inside - arent they?

I have sliding glass windows as well, the screens go keep the bugs out.

So you think you have problems !!! I have the bloody iron robbery guards INSIDE of both the screens AND the sliding glass widows even on the FOURTH floor , like potential robbers have sucker pads on their feet to climb that high . Not to be outdone , I asked permission to remove the 'Prison bars'so I could remove and clean the filthy windows , well , knock me down with a feather , the detachable windows would not lift past the tracks so if I want to do a good job of the outsides I have to tie a rope to me and the f@#$n bed , yeah , yeah , go on 'n laff yer ass off , snot bleedin funny mate !!!!

Hey Dude , did you read the posts with both eyes open ? That way you have to slide the screen to one side BEFORE YOU can open the window , Whilst opening the window ALL of the beastly bugs fly in and when you CLOSE the screen you have them all neatly trapped INSIDE of your room , thats why they sell so much of that bug killer , just can't win TiT LOL 555

In Australia (the home of fly screens) fly screens are all on the outside, you can slide your windows open ( in the case of aluminium sliders) without having to open the fly screens. Actually they are referred to as Insect screens. Also Insect screen doors are on the outside as well.

I have found that opening the 'fly screen' for a couple of seconds while you slide the door open is generally not a problem.

Fly screens on the inside of sliding windows is just plain stupid, see them open fly screen, open the window, close flyscreen, oh its starting to rain, open fly screen, close window, close fly screen, rain stopped open fly screen, open window, close fly screen, next door starts burning leaves, open fly screen, close window, close fly screen, smoke stopped, open fly screen, open window, close fly screen, sounds silly but I have watched exactly this happen.

There seems to be a spoil-sport on most threads , just thought I might have been able to insert a little 'Dumb-humour' , ah well , "pats ones own back", now back to those @#%^@# windows , getting hard to see the nightly strip show , oops sollee .

my screens are on the outside. guess i'm lucky...

Nah!! somebody probably got fired over that stupid mistake or an outraged foreigner turned them around , the contractor should put a patent on it .

Open windows while mosquitoes are busy sucking someone else’s blood :D

Then it depends on whether the sliders have been put on the inside or the outside track as to where the screens can go.

Posted

1: With them on the inside the outside appearance of the house is much nicer.

2: On the inside they also last a lot longer.

3: Guess they are also hard to be nicked. :)

OK. I replied before the mention of 'sliding screens or windows' appreared.

Simultaneous postings must have pushed my reply further down the thread, making it appear my post came out of a baboons anus!

Yep! Outside is the sliding glass.

Next is the sliding fly screen.

Next is the sliding metal burglar deterrant.

Next is the curtain. Sliding also. :)

Next is... me.

To close the glass, I go outside. Rarely do unless some b@stard is burning plastic.

To open the fly screen - never do unless cleaning it.

To open the metal stuff - never do unless cleaning the fly screen.

No problem Dude , On this kind of thread you need to be a little 'Tongue-in-cheek' any way , I try to have my comments go with the flow , but that is not always that simplistic .

Good topic.

I could never figure out why the insect screens are on the inside.

I have screen, bars, window.

If I open them to get some fresh air, there's a bloody wasp nest in the mango tree 2 ft from the window 15' from terra firma. The bastards will swarm in, esp at night as they are attracted to the light...... (Thai wasps are weird)

Oh, wo is moi. :D

Maybe there's a niche market out there? :)
