JetsetBkk Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Any one know what happened last night at about 8 pm at Hayek Chalong - fire engine at the entrance of the pier road, traffic jam, lots of water on the road (it wasn't raining ).
markg Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Any one know what happened last night at about 8 pm at Hayek Chalong - fire engine at the entrance of the pier road, traffic jam, lots of water on the road (it wasn't raining ). Yeah they were just washing the road down. They came down chalong pier road at about 8 hosing a few leaves and stuff off the road. No idea why they waste water like this. It's been raining quite a lot recently. You'd think that would take most of the crud off the road.
JetsetBkk Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 Ah, thanks for that - I'd assumed it was something serious. Edit: As for wasting water... I'm sure the local road authority bosses have no financial interest whatsoever in the water supply company, who must be suffering a little during this particularly wet rainy season.
Kan Win Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 Maybe you missed the News 'JesterBKK' The Prince of Thailand is in Phuket on a private visit. Could be some thing to do with that. Yours as always Kan Win
JetsetBkk Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 Maybe you missed the News 'JesterBKK' The Prince of Thailand is in Phuket on a private visit. Could be some thing to do with that. Yours as always Kan Win Ah! Thank you Kan Win! I was going to ask what were all the police doing tonight between Wat Chalong and Hayek Chalong. I guessed a VIP was coming but none of the coppers I asked spoke a word of English, and just smiled. One car park guy said "King" but I know now he meant the son. Anyway, the by-pass road was nice and clear tonight, although that may have been due more to the imminent rain.
KarenBravo Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 The VIPs went to Kan Eang 1 next to the pier last night. The girls in the bars along the pier road were all told to "get out of sight".
LivinLOS Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 What a strange perspective they must have of their own country..
markg Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 What a strange perspective they must have of their own country.. Well, probably just about every Royal in any country is rarely likely to see the whole mucky truth. Honestly, what would you do if you were the chief of police? Let them line the street and shout 'haloooo hansum man' to the Prince, or get them out of sight whilst he passes. Actually, the Thai girls will already have known to get out of sight i guess.
LivinLOS Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Well back in the west royals dont close roads (if its not some public show) they see the world approximately as it is with the shield of hidden anonymity from behind Mercedes smoked glass. Here the roads are cleared, they fly past places that essentially get scrubbed clean, replanted, etc just before they arrive, and ignored as soon as they are gone, in a trafficless false image created just for their eyes. That doesnt seem like a little odd perspective ??
harleyclarkey Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 The establishment, around the world, live in a different world to us. They haven't a clue what is really happening. Their heads are too far stuck up above the clouds to see what is on the ground. Cocooned in their Limos they are whisked through traffic, stopped of course by a fleet of police outriders, along freshly cleaned and planted roads. Devoid of any thing that may possibly offend the eye of ones so exalted. Into, say, an airport to be rushed through to the VIP area (no queues, security, formalities no dirty people to have to mingle with) and onto a private jet. This case has all these usual "I'm a VIP, get the riff raff out of here" hall marks. Just a quickie. Years back in the courts here (no! I wasn't in trouble) a big fat slob of a sergeant came up the stairs roughly shoving people out of the way and telling them to get out of the way. And for what? All this for a pompous, egotistical low court judge! That's the mind set.
JetsetBkk Posted September 29, 2009 Author Posted September 29, 2009 What a strange perspective they must have of their own country.. On this subject, I think you are quite wrong. It is all done for public perception. PM me if you want to discuss further.
