penzman
A while ago I mistakenly deleted a partition on an old drive of mine Is the data that was on that partition still there somehow and recoverable?
Firefoxx
Only the partition information was changed, not the data on the drive. So, yes, you can recover the information (as long as you didn't write anything to the drive afterwards).
slimdog
Getting the data back will really depend on whether the files have been overwritten or not. There are some useful tools available. Do you know if the file system was Fat or NTFS ? Has the disk been re-formatted ? In order to have any chance of recovering data do not install any recovery software onto the harddrive which holds the data. Normally better to physically remove the harddrive and then using external usb harddrive connections connect it to a second computer, then if you do find data you want to recover you will be able to save it to a different physical drive (c:/) reducing the chance of overwriting any further data. waldwolf
A while ago I mistakenly deleted a partition on an old drive of mine Is the data that was on that partition still there somehow and recoverable? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> By "A while ago" do you mean yesterday, last week, or last month? What is your OS? (Win98/98SE/ME/NT/2K/XP) How did you "mistakenly" delete the partition? (Were you running Windows fdisk or another utility such as PartitionMagic?) There are a number of commercial utilities available which will allow you to do "postmortem backup" if you need to recover important data. A partial list w/links are: Winternals Administrator's Pak O&O DiskRecovery Ontrack Data Recovery Paragon Rescue Kit Active@ Partition Recovery Symantec’s Norton PartitionMagic A few of the above have "Trial" downloads you can try. good luck
collar
Greetings, I'm pretty sure you will be able to restore it using Active@ partition recovery tool. It worked great for me and really never failed before. Give it a try. http://www.partition-recovery.com/
