Udon Thani has opened their new Imm Office at the Udon Int Airport. Follow along the front of the terminal buildings to the end...last door.

Only doing 90 day reports at the moment as only just opened, should be fully operational within 2 - 4 weeks (they say)

Staff very friendly..

Well, someone else told me they were opening on the road to Khon Kaen, don't remember the name of the place.

Before it was talk about opening in the Police Station,Muang or Provincial,so long nothing sure.

Don't hold your breath, the record for Udon is really bad. :)

I can also confirm that the Immigration Office at Udon Thani airport is now up and running.

At the moment just for 90 day reports but visa extensions should be able to be done by the end of the month.

Anyone needing visa extensions based on marriage/retirement or re-entry permits should still report to Nong Khai for the next couple of weeks or so.

The reports that I have seen that the office is indeed at the airport appear to be first person.

Thank you all, have to make the 90 day report next week, they opened right in time! :)

Your not far out if at all, walk along the front of the terminal buildings without going inside..right to the end (last door) and just before the outside food stalls.

Thanks, Tafia.

Thank you for you efforts Tafia and taking the time to report on your findings.

The proposed office at the police station was totally unsuitable IMHO ?????

It was smaller than the AEK office and had no apparent room or provision for seating ect.

The walking area to the office was a grassy / muddy approach and would have needed a lot of additional work doing on it to make it FFP.

Another expat club in Udon reported on this also by the way, to back Tafia up.

The above is meant to be positive also is it ?

Your post sums you up nicely.

It also sums up why there is a lot of attitude with Immigration relating to certain applicants.

Sadly it also has an overall effect on those of us who try to make things better for everyone.

FYI

I try to be friendly with everyone and try to understand the reason why, even for sarcasm and cynical, negative comment, but sometimes it is very difficult.

We as visitors to Thailand and in particular members of Thai visa, do our best to improve relations with the various authorities, especially those that can have an influence on how we are treated in general terms.

The mods do their best also and work very hard to assist all who need help and advice, sometimes it must be a thankless task, but like Immigration, they soldier on regardless.

You appear to be very cynical of the very institutions that do, in most cases try their best to assist us.

It must be very difficult for the Immigration officers, having to put up with unfriendly applicants and trying to do their job in a friendly manner.

Most of us have witnessed these incidents and in my case anyway, felt ashamed of them, and felt sorry and sympathetic towards the officers who have to put up with it.

The tourist police incidently, also go out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

Note

You wouldn,t want to meet me in person, that,s for sure, I speak as I find, as I have always done.

Life is to short to be wasted on negatives.

Open your eyes, engage your grey matter and enjoy the many positives Thailand has to offer.

Went today to the Office for my 90 day report, open only for address report and re-Entry permits up to now.

Time will tell more.

Any change since October 6th?

I need a one year extension for a Non Imm O Married Visa next week...

On the way to Aek Udon hospital I went to the Udon Thani Airport Immigration Office. As others said it is to the far right in the old domestic terminal in the old departure area. Went there to get some TM-7 forms for a future tourist visa extension. There where a few tables put together with one officer and his side kick who would do the stamping of any receipts. A few people behind them in what looks like a copy room. In the cashier's officer there where about 3 female staff waiting for business.

I asked the officer if the place was permanent and got a response to the effect it was. I asked if they do visa extensions and got a firm yes. I asked if they are fully open and got another firm yes. The two people in front of me had one doing a 90 day report and the other doing a re-entry permit. There is no formal system of taking a number or such. It is the 'notice where you are in the line' and make your way to the front when it is your turn. While there I was 3rd in line with a few others coming in. I was there about 10am/Monday/16 November.

If this all holds true, for me, it is great! I hate going to the BKK immigration office, especially now that it is moved out to a new spot.

Today my wife and I went to the Udon Thani Immigration Office at the Airport around 09:45

Very friendly staff!

Compared with the Nong Khai IMM Office it's a big change for the better.

They give me a number but did help me immediately.

I got the wanted NON IMM O Retirement visa.

I did say to the helping officer that it was, compared to Nong Kha, a nice office.

He told me that it was a temporary one, they want to build a new office in the future.

I did ask him when they start building, he did say in 1, 2 3 or 4 years or never, LOL

So I assume we can use this very nice office many years ahead :)

This is what the retirement extension stamp of Udon Thani looks like, kindly provided by greenway for upload:

Different immigration offices use different text for their stamps. This stamp incorporates the reminders about re-entry permit and 90-day address notification in the extension stamp.

I have added this stamp to my album of "Current stamps of visas, extensions, etc" here:

Yes interesting enough my 90 day report for a Non B visa issued through Loei province Immigration office at Chiang Khan

was forwarded to that office but after no reply I telephoned the Immigration hot-line and was finally transferred

to an English speaking officer who stated that an office would be opening in Udon Thani airport but had no

details of when or any further information and that was in September.

I will report again this month and await a reply and hopefully they are fully and not partially operational this time around,

fingers crossed and if they query me on Septembers report just resort to the Thai logic of mai pen lai....
