October 8, 200916 yr Does anyone know if the parking at phuket airport has improved now they have put the parking fees up or is it still full with limousines and illegal taxis. Was there a week ago picking someone up, and there were rare empty spaces, even in the area nearest to domestic arrivals, the favourite of the limousines. Could be time of day dependent of course, this was late afternoon.
October 8, 200916 yr No improvement in the parking situation, other than there have been fewer private cars parking during the low season. Be back to the normal chaos once the high season starts.

The motorbike parking is great though
October 8, 200916 yr The limos don't pay the parking fees, and still take up the first 2 rows of parking. Taxi meters, i don't know the story on other then they make the bulk of them wait out side the main gate. Black Taxies...maybe they know the guy in the parking booth??? In stead of airport expansion can we have a multi-story car park? 3 or 4 levels please?

Its like 20-30k a car a month to the airportauthorities to be allowed to pick up in airport. I guess that qualifies for free parking too Perhaps the present 200 baht/day is being saved for more parkingfacilities. In most other airports in the world 200 baht is the price per hour, not 24 hours like here.
October 8, 200916 yr second that.Could be fewer private cars due to increased price, but its gonna be full every day in a month. The motorbike parking is great though Motorbike parking should have a rain roof and security.

October 9, 200916 yr Motorbike parking should have a rain roof and security. And still be free of charge?

October 9, 200916 yr Is there a free parking place nearby, where you can park the car? And hopfull not find anything stolen. Thinking about a week trip.
October 10, 200916 yr But simply WHY allow 1/3rd of the place to be taken up by limos ?? I mean surely if they had 10 limos in there, and the rest on a rotating system, like the meter taxis do, it all works ?? Heaven forbid you try to park even temporarily anywhere near the pickup area, little wannabe toughs all started hollaring at me when I pulled up with the engine still running and my brother walking over with his bags.. "oi oi farang.. Cannot.." yes welcome to Phuket indeed.

When ever I pick up friends/family/clients I have to double or tipple park on either extreme end depending if they're coming in Domestic or Int'l So they're not just taking up the first 2 rows of parking they also assume control over the entire loading area.
