Hi,

I am thinking of taking my Open Water Course on Koh Tao (so fairly close to Koh Samui). I know that the rainy season is starting on the Gulf side, and I just wanted to know what the diving conditions are like in that area now. Are they still pretty good/decent? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Now the weather has improved and the winds dropped, conditions should be fine. Visibility might not be great but if you are anything like me when I did my course earlier this year, you will be so busy trying to control your bouyancy the visibility will be the least of your problems. :D

Next week looks like it might get windier so my advice would be to go sooner rather than later.

Any 'proper' divers out there with more accurate advice? :)

Hi the diving is good at the moment but is due to get wetter over the next few weeks. As you are going to get wet anyway the rain doesn't make that much difference but the wind and tides do! The viz wasn't too bad at Tao yesterday. You can always split your open water course by doing the pool work and academics here on Samui then just nip over to Tao to do your 4 dives.EASY :)
