November 13, 200916 yr Ok so now we know that Vientiane gives read warning stamps randomly at a ratio of about 20% of applicants. No proof of any logic here, 2 of my friends from France just came back with almost the same travel history including 2 years AWAY from Thailand in France. One of them got 6 months double with no stamp and one got single with red stamp... So the question now, is this only the Vientiane embassy just like Penang did a few years back or all consulates all over the world? Any red stamp or news of any red stamp anywhere BUT Laos please post here...if it ever happens!
November 13, 200916 yr Phnom Penh, red-green-pink-yellow-orange-black- white....Daaaaa. Take your chance. Thai embassies and consulates are a law into there on.
November 13, 200916 yr gotlost, the red stamp being talked about (see this topic) is a stamp added to a tourist visa with a text something like shown below, used by the Thai consulate in Vientiane. Did you get a stamp like this in Phnom Penh, in any colour? -- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
November 13, 200916 yr Penang started issuing the red stamp again a few months back and declining tourist visas where people already had 30 day extensions. Not much feedback recently. Suspect most people are travelling to Vientiane and obtaining double entry tourist visa there free of charge. The red warning stamp appeared at Vientiane in September, and so far the only reports of visas being refused are for a few South East Asian nationals. Other nationals still receiving visa but some are also getting red stamp. What happens in a few months time when those people with red stamps reapply for new visas is not yet known. The rules over visa issuance are generally being tightened up across all embassies/consulates it would seem, but so far only the red stamp has been seen at Penang and Vientiane.
November 28, 200916 yr Author I'm heading to Laos in a couple of days, will post over here red stamp or not.
