Still Gambling In Custody?

Featured Replies

An even more bizarre gambling arrest by Banglamung Police.

On Wednesday Afternoon, Police at Banglamung made yet another gambling arrest at a house in Soi Kow Noi. A total of 13 people were caught playing the game “Hi-Low”. Three dice, the game board and 400 Baht in cash were confiscated by Police. Khun Wunlar admitted to organizing the event. What makes this different to other gambling arrests is what happened back at the stationhouse. While Police were processing the group, they told them that they could carry on playing the game to keep themselves occupied while the paperwork was being completed. So they did and as you can see from our pictures, they appeared to be having some fun although they were facing a charge of gambling which is an illegal activity here in Thailand. Police put a stop to the game as soon as they realized that some of the group was in fact playing for money. They were all put behind bars and later released after paying small fines.

They didn`t think that they were gambling for the fun of it did they??? :o

Im always amused by these gambling bust reports.

Always a swag of people and a ridiculously small sum of money i.e. 400 Bt, 13 gamblers.

Do the police only confiscate the cash actually on the table at the time they

walk in. ?

What a waste of police manpower.

Certainly surreal - allowing gambling in the police station...honestly looks like they just changed venues. :o

400 bahts is what remain after paying the informator, and after each cop has taken his share...

Slightly off topic: How do you play Hi-Low? Rules?

why george?

do you want to set up the online TV version? :o:D

It's called Hi-Low as the Chief of police all the way down to the street cops each get their share :o

From my limited understanding george they bet on whether the dice will be either higher or lower than the result. ie bet on 4, if the dice comes back with a 5 you lose.

There is also a card version of this game.
