On Tuesday November 24 I purchased a vacuum packed 100gm `Country-Style Pate`made by Gibus Food in the Tesco superstore in Phetchabun. Dates on the packet were 03/11/2009 - 02/12/2009. Next day I ate most of it. Big mistake!

There is something wrong with this product. It made me sick for 3 days.

I have emailed Tesco but not received so much as an acknowledgement. The email address for Gibus Food does not work.

I post this to warn others.

I would not purchase food made by that company.

perhaps people should just stop eating all pate!

I agree. That stuff's bad for ya. Almost 100% fat.

yeah...so's cheese...mebbe should stop eatin' cheese as well... :)

But what else had you eaten and drunk during that period?

Not saying the pate ain't the prime suspect but there could be others.

What confidence do any of us have in sell/use/eat by dates in this part of the world?

On the contrary, cheese can contain upwards of 30 percent protein, whereas Paté de foie gras, for example (canned goose liver paté), is only about 3 percent protein with fat and cholesterol making up most of the rest. Not healthy, IMO.

Cheese certainly is somewhat fattening, too, but it's also nutritious. One can't say the same about paté.

Say, all this talk is making me hungry. Gotta go eat dinner now...LOL
