Great Book

"Mad about The Mekhong" by John Keay.

If you like learning about the history of this region written in a fairly easy-to-read, stimulating way, this book may be of great interest to you. It was published in 2005. I really enjoyed it.

I like history and it sounds interesting. Is this book well documented with references or is it written as what the author knows to be true. I am always looking to improve my knowledge about Issan and Siam.

Can it be bought in Thailand?

I agree..read it 2 years ago.. entertaining, enlightening, informative and educationally sound

www.asiabooks.com has it.

Check your local branch for it, and if not there, ask that they order it up, usually takes 3-5 days.

They have a whole lot more branches these days than I'd realized!!
