December 13, 200916 yr are there any supermarkets in koh phangan? I will be there in a week for a few weeks and wouldnt mind saving some money by visiting a supermarket and buying food.. I'm staying on Haad Rin near where the full moon parties are (hotel is called baan talay guest house) Cheers
December 13, 200916 yr Tesco? Dont think there is a Tesco there yet but am sure they have it on there radar! Av been over in Samui last few weeks and getting my groceries from tesco and am finding its not actually that much cheaper than Uks. You can still eat out for less providing you dont mind eating thai food all the time and are not bothered about your surroundings

You can still eat out for less providing you dont mind eating thai food all the time and are not bothered about your surroundings I did a google search on Tesco and found:..........xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx................(URL removed) (sorry to link to another forum) Can anyone confirm that? If so, do they know which part of the island the supermarket is located?
December 14, 200916 yr There is a Tesco Express in Thong Sala, I heard they were thinking of putting one in Hadrin but since I never make it to Hadrin, couldnt tell you if its in or not. Thong Sala is quite far to go just for shopping unless you have your own transport and are comfortable driving over the hills from Hadrin
December 14, 200916 yr there is no supermarket in had rin. Besides if you are staying in a guest house then yuo will have no kitchen facilities and perhaps not even a fridge so you would only really be able to get snacks at tesco. Better off just buying a pad Thai for 30 baht....

You can still eat out for less providing you dont mind eating thai food all the time and are not bothered about your surroundings honestly, if you haven't a clue about what you are saying, then why even contribute. there is a tesco lotus in thongsala. there are also limpipong, and A's supermarkets as well as an abundance of fresh produce on the market street. in thongsla/baan tai there are also a number of bakeries, specialty shops etc. whether you will save money remains to be seen.
December 15, 200916 yr Sad to see, but on a big, wide area nearly opposite Tesco Lotus in Thong Sala, is coming a new, bigger Big C (next year). About Haad Rin, no supermarket at all, some food like cheese and toast bread at 7 Eleven, but the biggest choice of booze
December 15, 200916 yr I reckon, that the OP has no clue about local circumstances and thinks, that, like in many Western countries, the cheapest food available can be bought in supermarkets.
