This was last city in the USA to convict two men for having sex in their home. As the Virginia Slims commercial said, "You've come a long way, baby." :)

background: The petitioners, John Geddes Lawrence, a medical technologist, then age 55, and Tyron Garner (1967–2006),[9] then 31, were alleged to have been engaging in consensual anal sex in Lawrence's apartment in the outskirts of Houston between 10:30 and 11 p.m. on September 17, 1998 when Harris County sheriff's deputy Joseph Quinn entered the unlocked apartment, with his weapon drawn, arresting the two.

They elected a lesbian mayor. Bravo for them. However, I feel that at this time there is no city in Texas that would elect a gay male mayor.

Austin might

I said in Texas.

Oh, I see. Austin, the capital of Minnesota, as opposed to the capital of California being Toledo. Sure. :)

Actually, Houston is fairly progressive for Texas. Esp, the Montrose. But it isn't San Fran.

We've had this 'what do words really mean' discussion with Jingthing here in the gay subforum before- c.f. 'dishy...' [user ducks] :D:)
