Would Skype Work To Us With These Speed Test Results?

Featured Replies

I believe I have the least expensive Premium internet access service from TOT.

I would like to use Skype to make occasional calls to the bank I still have an account with in US, former employer (who provides my health coverage), and so on. But, I don't want to make financial arrangements with Skype without knowing if I have sufficient speed.

Using speedtest.net, I just got the following results:

Ping 209 ms

Download 1.73 Mbps

Upload 0.05 Mbps

When I looked at info speedtest.net provides for countries around the world, Thailand was reported to have:

Download 3.41 Mbps

Upload 0.76 Mbps

If anyone has the technical knowledge to suggest whether or not Skype would work for me, I would greatly appreciate any info.

Thanks.

I'm no techie but I'd like to have those speeds, so, yes, Skype would be fine at those speeds.

:)

If i remember correctly, when I first installed Skype it gave a free test call before any financial commitment.

But the speed you have looks ok...

skype is very up n down 1 minute you can use it on a 56k modem other times 4mb gets a crap line, but generally anything over 1mb 9 times out of 10 will work fine

Thanks to everyone for their replies.

I found that the Magic Jack works much better and cheaper at only $19.00 a year.

It looks like the upload speed is rather marginal.

Download and ping are OK, so there is a chance that you will hear the other side clear, but you will come through to them with broken sound...
