I don't know why but I subscribe to the silver package and around 3 weeks ago I suddenly starting receiving just about every channel they have. The last bill was still for the silver package.

I think DSTV has scared them and they may be just trying to stop existing customers from moving.

Its just a promotion for December only ( you get the next package above what you subscribe to ) .They are hoping people will upgrade in the new year .

What is DSTV ? something unique to Chiang mai ?

Not unique in Chiang Mai. It's just a True Visions branding for satellite TV.

I don't know if you will find a better option in CM (I am with True/UBC) but as to whether or not you can move your dish, I'd ask at your local True office before trying. I suspect they would take your existing dish and give you a new up in CM.

UBC have a standard charge for the transfer of service. It used to be Baht 1,500 and can be arranged by your local UBC office.

"Oh no cannot". The favourite response to any customer request. We cancelled ours in Bangkok six months ago and are still waiting for the 2k deposit to be returned. It is not a deposit, in fact, they just steal it.

If you can get a reasonable speed internet connection, no True in San Sai, then subscribe to a VPN and you can view US/Euro TV on line and to hel_l with the bandits at True/UBC.

We canceled UBC and it took 2 months before we got a check in the mail from Bkk , we went to the same bank on the Check to cash it.

Oh no not can do we have to send to Bkk first and then wait until lits cleared that takes about 3 weeks then we put in your account

and from the 2000 we got 1300 after all the fees they took out.. :)

Just an update to say that i contacted True visions customer service .They said that they could transfer my subscription to CM for free ( a very nice lady on the phone ) .

Anyway i have decided to cancel as B1000 a month is quite a lot of money and anyway i do not look at much TV .When i do look i watch documentaries and news channels of which there are few on True .

We had a similar experience when we left Bangkok and move to Cm. Took 2.5 mths to get our 2000 baht deposit back but no fees were deducted. As companies go their business ethics are about as low as you can get. Standard of programming has declined. The movie channels are disgraceful, old re runs of B grade movies mostly but dont bother writing to them and compalining you will never get a reply.

have just been to CM office to inform them I am moving from CM to Khao Lak. No problem, filled out a form, a gut will come on Monday to take old equipment away. When I get to new house I must contact a provider in the area with my previous account number and ask for an installation. They tell me no charge, but I will let you know the story...
