from the 'Korat' car rental website: Minimum Paperwork... All vehicle's fully insured for car hire in Thailand... A fully refundable security deposit of 5000 Thai BHT is payable at time of rental.

Fully insured? Maybe so... but if you look at the 'Tips Insurance' / FAQ pages at the Budget Thailand website, I would have my doubts.

I have used his services many times as have many of my friends. I did actually have an accident once with one of his cars and the insurance covered everything.

Budget is also available in Korat but they require a credit card which some people don't have. Jimmy is really a great guy and his customer service is impressive. If you need a car before or after office hours then he will still arrange it.

:) Personally I would do it through Budget Car rental. I have many times. The reason is if you have a knock or even a smash you have no hassles as you decide the insurance cover. Also, if you want to drop it off at another location no hassles either but a little extra to pay. Look up Budget .co.th & you can get address (Tesco car park) phone number, & email for Korat.

I have tried local car rent all over thailand since 1986, I have only on occasion had a good deal, the rest of the time ripped off or had them try to rip me off. So now I only deal with international firms of some repute.

In Thailand as well as in USA it seems that the insurance is structured so that you cannot be fully covered unless you purchase extra coverage such as CDW, etc. I have many times rented a car or last time a mini-van from an independent Thai car rental shop but ALWAYS with them supplying the driver -- that way you have NO liability as it is their driver.
