What do you think of tatoos.? Has your partner got one-do you like it.? Did he/she have it before you met them or did you encourage them to get one.?

Have you asked your other half to have one but they won't or have you asked them to have them removed when you met them.?

I read an article recently about Thai men having them to ward off evil spirits, but this is not what this thread is about.

Some can look very sexy and some plain ridiculous

I would be interested to hear your experiences

I have got some 'religious' tattoos which I had before my wife met me. I got them when I was pissed here in Thailand. Thai people often come up to me and admire them when I show them which is rarely. I don't like showing them, to which some will say, "why get them then?" For me, I am sure that they helped my qutting drink and drugs, quite how I don't know.

IMO, Some tattoos on men look good, some look like they are/were a drunken sailor with nothing better to do on shore leave.

My wife, no she hasn't got any. I would never suggest it!

On Thai women they look tacky and very unsexy to me. Makes them look like a slut. I have only ever seen one woman with a tattoo that suited her - it was a flowery bracelet.

I personally like tattoos and have quite a few myself. Some I recieved when I was younger and wished I had thought it out a little more. I think, to each his own be it tattoos, body piercings or what not. Of course I'm a sailor so who cares what I look like, my mother still loves me :o

Tattoos are for sailors and prostitutes. No person of intelligence would get one. It's kind of like listening to Eminem; no one of right mind does it. There is nothing on earth worse than seeing a beautiful girl turn around and then seeing a hideous tattoo destroying her lovliness. It's a shame people become twisted

What a lot of old sailors <deleted>.....Tattoos are commonplace these days for both men and women...

But my choice is for non tattoos on my ladies....I dont like the look of them on women even though I have a couple of smallish ones myself.

Please define twisted? :D

Tattoos are:

• for sailors, so their washed up bodies can easily be identified

• for young people who are obsessed by the fantasy they will never grow old

• for those who would deny the impermanence of human life, as much as they would deny the permanence of a tattoo

Don’t do it. You WILL regret it.

(fat lot of good this will do) :o

you just hit the nail on the head; it is those so-called stars who have the real and fake tattoos who instill the feeling in a dumb public of girls who then think it is sexy and pretty to have them when actually the tattoos look horrific on women, making them look low class. we should start another thread on breast implants, another hideous craving of some girls

People can do what they like. In history tats were very fashionable. In certain cultures/countries they are fashionable today.

If people don't like tats, then in my opinion that is their own prejudice.

I don’t have tats and I don’t wear any jewelry, not even a watch.

I then could possible take the attitude that if any guy that wore a necklace he was a dork?..I don’t think so…. :o

My husband has two tattoos and I have one. He got his first one about 8 years ago and his second one with me when I got mine done. Tattoos can be very sexy if done well. JMO.

I think it is very narrow minded to refer to people with tattoos as "twisted" and having "low intelligence". Just because something is not your cup of tea, does not give you the right to be insulting to people who don't share your view.

I don't understand how some people can get so negatively emotional about something that doesn't affect them in any way.

Some tats are fine, when they're new. Wait a few years though and see what happens.

My dad got his tats (being the sailor-boy that he was), and now (40 some-odd years later), they look bad.

I've never wanted a tattoo, and if the thought ever crosses through that mud patch of a brain of mine, I just have to remember what dear old dad's look like now.

Never had any myself and nor has my wife, not because we dont like them on OTHER people but not on us for many of the reasons already mentioned.

My last Wife went and got my name tatooed on her back without telling me. I was not at all happy, she could not understand that why I was so angry when it was extremely painful and was meant to show her undying love and devotion to me.

We split up 8 months later.

I hope any Boyfreinds, Lovers, or Husbands she has had since shares my name, or that moment of passion might just disappear :o I understand that having them removed is sooo sooo painful :D

I have two tattoos. Neither of them are on public show. In fact, people are surprised when they DO happen to see them and I have never had any negative comments about them.

I am neither a slut or a prostitute.

People making ridiculous generalisations is what makes me mad on this forum.

Is it also fair to say that all men are in Thailand looking for Thai women? No, it's not.

Is it fair to say that all blondes are dumb? No, it's not.

Is is fair to say that a tattoo on a man makes him look masculine? Not necessarily. In fact, I have seen some blokes with tattoos which look stupid on their insipid white/blue arms.

But whoever has the tattoo, is it THEIRS. They got it for their own reasons and whilst some of them may look stupid, so do many things. (Personally, I think a man with a combover is a most silly sight, but I don't categorise all these men into the one area).

To say that a woman with a tattoo is a prostitute is absurd.

You are 100% correct Donna, people have absolutley NO RIGHT to judge a person because they have a tatoo . Yours may not be on display but the fact that you have them means that you are still being tarred with the same brush and it is not right.

Why can't some people just "live and let live" :o

I'm sorry I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that tattoos are not only for prostitutes and sailors, but also convicts

I suggest that we all just keep calm and ignore the sad Queen. It is he/she's Opinion and he/she is entitled to it, even if everybody here disagrees.

Its a sad world but sometimes you just gotta..........

Is it fair to say that prostitutes have a higher %age of tattoos than any other profession in Thailand ?

No I would say it is more likely to be young Thai males for the reasons I gave in my original post.

they seem to be getting too large and coupled with nose and face jewelery some farangs must look too bizzare by far.

i was having some "doggy style " with a girl i met in sukhumvit road one night , and across her lower back was the bold title of CRAIG ! with ornamental flowers etc.

i asked her who's CRAIG ?

she told me the storey about CRAIG who came from Manchester . they got married (family) only and lived in a flat in pattaya.

after a while CRAIG took to drinking heavilly and using drugs .

back home he was into columbian nose candy in a big way .

finally CRAIG flipped and went crazy , he went to pattaya hospital where he was diagnosed as suffering from severe paranoia .

one night he walked out with a small bag and vanished .

now she has to obscure CRAIGs name somehow. laser is too expensive

You may well be right....but that doesnt mean that every person with a tattoo is prostitute....

They are not all bikers, sailors convicts or druggies either....
