A different question about a common subject. Having been visiting Thailand for several years I'm familiar with most of the Visa extension questions. But in this case things are a bit different. I'm here this time on a 90 day Non-Immigrant ED visa which has not been extended and runs out on February 4th 2010. If I don't get the usual 1 year extension, the class I was attending has finished, can I still get re-entry permit due a visa run prior to Feb 4 and stay another 90 days? Has anyone tried this?

I'm in Chiang Mai atm....

If the visa is of a multiple re-entry type, then yes you can.

If the visa is of the single entry type, then no, the re-entry permit issued by immigration only locks in the current stay.

Thanks guys. I thought that was the case

To answer a couple of your points. It's a single entry via KL. If I had a multi I wouldn't need the re-entry permit. Sorry if I didn't make that clear, but I appreciate the input none the less.

Thanks again,

If visa is multiple entry you will need to do border run before expiry to obtain new 90 day permission to stay on re-entry.

Hi, i just received my 1 year Ed visa multiple entry, witch stamping i may expecting at Suvarnabhumi? I hope they wont stamp it "used" as it is multiple entry...? Also must i do border runs or just pass immigration every 90 days..? And can i go and come Thailand in that year just like i wish whiteout re entry permission? I shall follow the rules and go Walen school .

Thx

You must leave country every 90 days unless you extend your stay at Immigration for 1,900 baht every 3 months using school paperwork. TM.7 and photo.

If you do not extend you do not need re-entry permit to come and go during validity of visa.

If you extend you will need re-entry to keep the extension of stay alive.
