Ok, i guess you guys bang your heads against the wall with repeated questions..cuz im sure this info is lurking in the forum somewhere!BUT, anyway...

Im attending a course at Chiang Mai University and I received my ed visa end of Nov 09. I know have to extend it before 90 days is up. Can I extend it early ..ie, this week? Do i need further documents/proof of attendance etc from the University? Or do i simply go in and ask for an extension the same as one would for a tourist visa?

Thanks so much!

It’s not quite as simple as extending the permission to stay after entering the country with a tourist visa. You need some documents from the university, which probably does this all the time and knows exactly what to give you.

Thanks Maestro. I'll go talk to admin at the Uni then. Actually, they havent handed out any info at all on what to do regarding visas. I realise its my own responsibility, but would have been nice to have some help/information on the process.

eek I know you are not at the language institute but I suggest you go and see Matt there. The have ha lot of experience with this and will be able to give you the information you will need to deal with admin in meeting the requirements Good luck.

Thanks Harry.

I went along just a little while ago, but it seems that if i extend my Ed visa now (about a month early), I will lose those days. I thought would be like the tourist visa, and the remaining time left on the visa would be tagged onto the 12 months.

So..im going to wait for now.

Thanks again both for your help.

(The reason for the panicked OP, was because i want to get a residency permit, then take my driving test ..all within the next couple of days. But, apparently cant do any of that without the 12 month stamp. But well...one more month of waiting wont kill me! )
