Is There A "new" Bypass Road Around Saraburi

Featured Replies

I just came back from a great trip to the east and noticed a (for me) new bypass road around Saraburi, kind of where the #1 highway links into the #2 highway. The signs were not all that clear, so at first I thought I had taken a wrong turn and it also looked like the main flow of traffic stayed on the main #1 and #2 roads.

Is it a new road or have I just missed it in the past and it any time/km saving?

Any TV members up around Ban Prasat or Ban Kruat (about 60 km south of Buriram)?

It was opened last year or perhaps end of year before.  I've tried it a number of times but prefer the old route.

Opened about October 2008 and I take it several times a month when heading up too Khaeng Khoi and Wang Muang areas. Take this route if I happen to stop by the reopened PTT station just up the road for a bucket of KFC. If planning for pizza, take the old route over the bridge and drop into the Tesco-Lotus.

The old route over the bridge does get a tad backed up if there's much in the way of traffic, have yet to run into that on the new bypass.

The problem I have with the bypass is I regularly get stopped at the traffic lights, therefore the time saving is lost.
