Hello all

I went to the New One Stop Service Center (Chamchuri Square) this morning to do my 90 day reporting. A very pleasant experience may I add, it took at most 10 minutes!

Ok my question is my re entry permit will run out on the 4th March 2010, along with my work permit. With this in mind when I reported this morning for my 90 days, I received a further 90 days taking me up to the 18 April 2010. So now I'm a little confused, can anybody explain to me If this allows me to stay until April, or does the date on the Re Entry permit dictate when I must leave the country?

Thank you in advance

A 90 day report is nothing to do with your permission to stay.

It would appear that your stay expires on 4th March.

You are not very clear though. What is your permision to stay date in your Passport?

If it's on the white info paper for the 90 days report, you have to do that next time on 18.04. (if you still will be here).

But your Visa will be expired according to the re entry stamp on 04.03. You can't stay here longer according to that Visa.

The date on the stamp from immigration you get at he border or when you go for an extension (not 90 day report) determines till what date you are allowed to stay in Thailand. Look at that stamp.

Since you have a re-entry permit, which is valid till your permission to stay ends, it seems you are allowed to stay until march 4. But make sure you have a multiple re-entry permit (this one you get from immigration in Thailand) and not a non-O valid multiple entry VISA (this one you get from a Thai embassy or consulate).

Yes my re entry permit was obtained from Immigration, along with my work permit. So as it stands I must leave on The 4th March as it states on my re entry permit.

My work here in Thailand will come to an end at the End of Feb, first few days in March and I am wanting to stay on for a holiday. If I was to do a border run before the 4 March, would they give me a futher 3 months . . . .. . .

Thank you

No, in fact you are here on an extension of stay from immigration. In that case you will have to leave the country the same day your contract ends. You can get a 7 day extension from immigration for 1,900 baht. Might go to Vientiane and get a tourist visa there.

Unless you have a valid multiple non-O visa, but in that case you didn't need a multiple re-entry permit.

Ok Mario thank you for the advice! Infact my contract ended last year and the company let me keep my work permit valid until it expires along with my permission to stay on the 4 March 2010. I know this is not exactly legal, but who am I to complain. Thanks again, I will go and get a new Non Imm visa, I think that is the easiest option although I will have to go back to the UK to get one! No worries

In that case you do not and will not have a letter of employment termination to provide to Immigration so no extension of stay is available. If you are found out 20,000 baht in overstay fine will be charged. Not exactly legal is very true. But probably not likely to be found out if nothing untold happens.

I got a 1-year extension on my Non-Im visa in mid-December 2009 (marriage+income). I got a stamp in my passport that says I can stay until mid-December 2010 as long as I do 90-day reports. My first 90-day report is in mid-March and will be no problem since I'm still here then. In April I have to go back to my home country in Europe and stay there for 6 months. I'll come back to Thailand in October 2010. My question is: If I get a re-entry permit (single entry) will I be able to use it to get back into Thailand in October after having been out of Thailand for 6 months? Or is there a limit to how long I can stay out of Thailand? Are you sure, like you write above, that a re-entry permit is valid until my permission to stay ends even with a 6-month exit to Europe?

Anyone who knows can answer.

Yes we are sure. You can re-enter up to the date on the re-entry permit - but if the day before you would have to leave the next day as it is also going to be your new permitted to stay until date stamp. (Same date as the old one)

I haven't got a re-entry permit yet - I'll get one in april. The date I was referring to in my previous post was the permitted to stay stamp in my passport.

So what you are saying is that when I buy a 'single entry re-entry permit' the date on this re-entry permit will be the same date as the permitted to stay stamp in my passport? (which is mid-December 2010)

Yes. :D

Thank you all very much for sharing your knowledge Mario2008, lopburi3 and Lite Beer. Now I can breathe easier!

I work in Norway for 6 months and then holiday in Thailand for 6 months every year. The Thai Embassy in Norway won't give out multiple-entry Non-Imm visas to anyone no matter what, so all I can get there is a single entry. This is why I have to get the 1-year extension here in Thailand even though I only really need a 3 month extension. Previous years I have been able to go daytripping to Mae Sai 3 times for 3 thirty-day free entries and so get 3+1+1+1=6 months that way, but now that is no longer possible.

Why doesn't every Thai embassy and consulate in the World follow the same Visa Laws/Rules? A multiple-entry non-imm visa would have been perfect for me - it would have been the least hassle. Citizens of practically every country in the Western World can get one in their home country from their local Thai embassy if they are married to a thai or retired with an OK pension and over 50 years old... but not norwegians in Norway! And it's been that way ever since I started travelling to Thailand back in 2002.   :)

I have heard about some consulates practising old visa laws and/or asking for different or extra documentation to give out visas, but I have not heard about any other embassy other than the Thai Embassy in Norway that just flat out does not give out multi-non-imms.

You could try to apply elsewhere in Europe for a multiple entry visa. Germany has some nice Thai consulates. When you apply for a visa, try to apply at a honorary consulate. They tend to be the most user friendly.

Note that if you don't have time to make a border run, you can always get a 60 day extension based on your marriage to a Thai, regardless of what kind of entry you are on. The are not given back to back!.

One Stop Service Centre

Chamchuri Square, 18th Floor

319 Payathai Rd, Pathumwan

Bangkok 10330

More information here.

Reported:

Use Exit #2 at the San Yan MRT. The MRT escalator brings you to the outdoors, right beside the mall and the "Chamchuri Office Tower" which is at the end of the mall. You don't need to walk through the mall to get to the ChanChuri Office Tower, unless you want to. A slightly quicker route: As soon as you reach the MRT #2 exit at street level, make an immediate right, walking along Rama 4 road for about 50 meters. You'll walk past the only outdoor facility, a circular Star Bucks restaurant. Continue walking another 50 meters, and, turning left, enter the Office Tower there. You'll be walking into a lovely gargantuan white lobby with marble floors. You need to take the non-security lifts, which are the leftmost lifts. Take one to the 18th floor.

My address report is due on the 11th Feb are we allowed a 7 day grace period until the 18th.

That is my understanding but immigration have said otherwise.

I f you live in BKK you can use the one-stop service center.

Yes, there is a 7 day grace period, but only when you apply in person. When you do your 90 day report by mail it must be there on the due date the latest, not after.

Of course immigration could change its policy, but yours is the first report I have seen.
