my girlfriend wants me to start a sugar farm for her as its the lastest craze in the villiage,,only have rice at the moment so starting from sctratch,,have to hire the tractor with driver,then the seeds,,then the fertilizer,,then the upkeep(i labour costs and how long) can anyone tell me the rough price of planting 2rai,,starting small to keep the peace,but dont want to lose to much

I'm sorry to say don't waste your time 2 rai is just too small, I'm not even sure you would fill half a truck with 2 rai. I'm not sure who you intend to sell your sugar to but if it's an ethanol factory near you expect to get 8-10k per rai. And that's if you are lucky, I can't see any company wanting to buy such a small amount, when most sugar farmers I know have 1000 rai plus and can guarantee x amount of crop per year. If you are happy to throw money away go ahead but if I were you I would look into a different crop. But even then I would say 2 rai is too small to make any kind of profit from framing.

What I have also learnt over the years is that small scale farmers are always chasing crop prices, whatever made the most profit that year everybody will plant only for the market to be flooded next harvest and the price to drop to nothing.

why don't you find some other crop (s) that will yield you more.

Sorry mate its a wast of time and money for two rai. Just give her about 10,000 baht and tell her to blow it on the family.
