Hi Everyone,

I would be grateful for any suggestions on where to take two Thai grandchildren (3 & 4.5 years) for the evening with their parents and my wife. My wife has suggested a trip on one of the river boats with food thrown in (Yok Yor), but I was wondering if anyone could come up with a nice venue that would interest the grandchildren. Have been to the aquarium at Siam Paragon before before any might mention this possibility.

Thank you for any helpful suggestions.

That was the suggestion I had in mind - a cruise up the river to Nonthaburi. Kids love to look out on the water from the bow of a boat - I know because I've been a kid for 40 years or more.

Other suggestions in Bangkok are hard to think of. Only other place I can think I would enjoy as a child of that age might be Dusit Zoo.

Think of sight and sound and colour and good new experience that we know and remember from our childhoods, but they don't. Good luck.

:)

(take comfort in the probability that you won't get sued if you make a second-rate choice - kid's don't do that sort of thing)

Not much choice for young kids in the evening

Dreamworld would be the place to take them but it is not open at night

With all the kiddie rides and cartoon costumed characters walking around, the kids would have a ball

Thank you for both replies. They have been to Dreamworld once, so we went with the boat trip and they appeared to enjoy themselves. I am sure that one of the other non-Yok Yor services would be nicer, but they would also be a lot more costly overall. We paid around 3000 Baht for 6 adults and 2 children, whilst I think you would be looking at around 8,500 Baht at least for the higher end services.

Always nice to see the sights on the river. Must say Wat Arun always looks amazing at night with all its lights.

I would not take young children on a river cruise. First, I don't think the kids would necessarily enjoy it and second, I don't think the adults would like it.

Kids like a fair amount of activity and stimulation--not a river cruise. Somewhere that they can run around a bit.
