Report Marcos: Philippines to Achieve 100% Ambulance Coverage by 2025
File photo for reference only In an unprecedented initiative, the Philippine government aims to provide every municipality with at least one ambulance by 2025, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced. The project, spearheaded by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), seeks to deliver a total of 985 patient transport vehicles (PTVs) by the end of the year, ultimately reaching 1,552 vehicles nationwide. As of now, 567 ambulances have already been distributed this year, marking significant progress toward this historic goal. If successful, this will be the first time in the nation’s history that every municipality, totaling 1,493, will be supplied with an emergency vehicle. President Marcos stated that achieving 100% coverage within a three-year span represents a monumental accomplishment for the country, enhancing emergency response and healthcare accessibility across all regions. "For the first time, we can say that we were able to complete 100% coverage in all municipalities in just a span of three years," he noted. During his visit to Misamis Oriental, Marcos distributed 91 PTVs, primarily benefiting municipalities in Northern Mindanao and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Notably, 68 of these municipalities will receive an ambulance for the first time, representing a landmark development in their emergency response capabilities. The P2.2-billion initiative aims to improve preparedness and response to both natural and man-made disasters at local and national levels. The PTVs, equipped with essential medical tools such as a stretcher, oxygen tank, and blood pressure monitor, are being allocated through the PCSO's Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP). This comprehensive rollout underscores the Marcos administration's commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and providing essential services to all Filipinos, empowering local government units and hospitals to better serve their communities. Melecio Buslig Jr., has been removed from his position following a viral video that exposed alleged abuses by a police sergeant. This high-profile case highlights strict accountability measures within the Philippine National Police (PNP). Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, head of the PNP, emphasized that removing Buslig demonstrates the principle of command responsibility. Marbil stated, “The relief of Police Brigadier General Buslig is a firm demonstration of command responsibility and a reminder that accountability does not stop at the individual level—it starts at the top.” He reinforced that such measures are vital to maintaining the integrity of the police force as protectors, not perpetrators. The incident emerged when Police Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), noted Buslig's failure to inform him promptly about the misconduct and the actions taken in response. The sergeant confronted and accused the homeowner of wrongdoing, resulting in a heated exchange and allegedly injuring the complainant’s minor daughter. The altercation was caught on video, which quickly went viral on social media, prompting swift action from police authorities. The sergeant was subsequently disarmed, arrested, and now faces multiple criminal and administrative charges, underscoring the PNP’s zero-tolerance policy. Maj. Gen. Aberin reiterated the no-tolerance stance against police misconduct, affirming that officers who break the law will face arrest, charges, and removal from the PNP. "NCRPO’s policy against police officers who are violating the law is non-negotiable," Aberin asserted. "There is no second chance for police scalawags." This incident serves as a stern reminder of the PNP's commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring all police personnel act with integrity and respect for the communities they serve. Would someone know where to get *paper* bags?
Go to Friendship , upstairs they sell bags in different sizes. They’re meant for the small shop owners I suppose and you can buy a packet or more as you need them very cheap. I put my bananas in paper bags and hang them from my kitchen door . Keeps them great and no flies.
