Buying A Suitcase In Phuket?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I am coming to thailand TOMORROW!!,

I was just looking at packing and thinking maybe it would be easier to just take a backpack over there. as I will be traveling very light.

Then buy a suitcase over there to bring back all my goodies!!

Is it easy to buy them over there and how much are they? for a standard large one.

Thanks

Ryan

Suitcases, bags, trunks, whatever. Readily available in multiple shops all over the island and prolific near tourist locations. An excellent hardcase roll-on bag can be had for about 500 baht (around US$16). Larger ones proportionate. Can buy brand name (real eg. Samsonite) as well as no-name. Many are made in Thailand.

You are right, but as a long term resident buying several suitcases or hardcase roll-on bags in Thailand I can honestly say that none of them lasted for more than 1 flight trip back home. And the shops offering Samsonites, they are not different than the fancy shops selling fake Ray Ban sun glasses. :)

The genuine Samsonites (there's a Samsonite shop at Jungceylon) seem to be costlier in Thailand than Oz. So depending upon where you hail from, it may be no cheaper (perhaps dearer) in Th if you are after the real McCoy.
