Hi guys,

I’ve read many topic here but I still can’t find a good answer to my question, so i’m asking for your help and knowledge.

I have a multiple entry tourist visa (3 period of 60 days) valid until 7th of april, obtained in France.

I arrived in October and for the first period, I got a 30 days extension, so I had to leave before 7th of January instead of 7th of december. I went to KL for the WE, nice trip. Cool.

Now I have to leave the country before 7th of march. Ok, no problem, I will do a visa run.

The point is : I want to stay 4 more months in Thailand after this 7th of april.

- Am I allowed to apply for a new multiple entry tourist visa or is it over for me and I should go back in France ?

I still can’t find if we can get as many tourist visa as we want of I we are limited in once a year.

- If I can do that, what embassy would you recommend. I’v read here that Ventiane gives double entry, right ?

And one more thing I don’t understand. Many of you here say that we can get a double entry and with extensions, that allows us to stay 180 days.

But I hardly though that extension is just available inside the valid period of the visa, like if you want to do a visa run after 90days and not 60 days.

How come could we stay 2 more months than the limited validity period of the visa ?

- Is it possible for me to get the new multiple entry tourist visa during my trip to Lao in March, instead of waiting until 7th of april ?

Thank you so much for your answers…

No official limit on the number of TVs you can get, however some consulates are putting their own limits but two shouldn't be an issue.

Vientiane and KL are known to be ok.

You need to use all your entries within the 'must enter before' date. If you have 90 days validity on a double entry then you can extend the first entry by 30 days but need to do a border run before that extension is ended (lose a few days), once your second entry is active you can extend that by 30 days too (even after the visa itself has expired). So you can get nearly 180 days on a double entry TV.

EDIT How many of your entries have you used? If you've still got one left when April arrives do a border run BEFORE the 7th and get 60 days which you can extend by another 30.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Well, thanks for this answer

I went out in january, next time will be in march, that means that I will have one entry left after this.

So if I understand you right way, you are telling me that i can get 60 days on a border run before 7th of april, even if my valid time of visa is untill 7th of april ?

Well... And I can do that as many time as I want later on ?

You can do a border run just before 7th April and will receive new 60 day permission to stay on re-entry. It is your permission to stay to that allows you to stay in the country, not your visa. Then within last week of permission to stay go to immigration to obtain a 30 day extension of your permission to stay. Fee 1,900 baht. You will not lose any days applying early. That will take you through to the beginning of July. After that you will need to obtain a new visa from consulate abroad.
