I'm heading to the Philippines for a vacation, and was wondering if anyone has had any RECENT experience with the embassy there for tourist visas. I'm not going to try for a multiple as I don't want to give them any reason to have a problem. I've been in Thailand on a non-b for one year on and off and am now at the end of my extended tourist visa. Anyone have any advice? Also, how much will it cost me? I'm going after March 5, when they start charging again.

New information that free visa will be reinstated on April 1st for 1 year.

I doubt that will make much difference. Manila is generally regarded as being one of the most unfriendly embassies in the region. Last reports are that they won't issue visas for anyone other than Philippine nationals or at least those with a residents card. Several members have reported about visa issues from Manila and most have regretted the experience.
