Hello everybody,

Im a little confused with the visa process and was hoping to get some advice on the best way to go....

I will be traveling to Thailand from USA in Dec.(for tourism) I will be there for 38 days, then will be out of the country for 43 days, and then back in Feb.for 17 days.

Can I apply for a tourist visa before I leave (I think its 35 USD and will cover my 38 days) and then re-enter in Feb. for free? (being that I will be there for under 30 days)

Thx, any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are flying out and back into Thailand, then the 30 days on arrival should cover that final 17 days adequately, but if you return overland, then the 15 day period is not quite long enough to make 17 days. If that is the plan; to leave and return by land rather than by air; then it might be worth it to obtain two tourist visas before December, so that you can invoke your second 60 day term in February.

Make sure to get your visas as close to December as possible, so that the second one is still valid in February.

Yes, for the first entry into Thailand you will need a tourist visa. As the second entry is less than 30 days and you arrive by air you will not need a visa.

A visa has to be used within 3 months, that means you need to enter Thailand within 3 months of it being issued, so don't apply to early.
