Love or Lust? What Are Foreigners Looking for in Thailand’s Nightlife?
I know I'm going off topic here, but the beer is still around and can even be bought online. I think it only comes in bigger bottles now and the old yellow cardboard packaging is no longer used. I read the following on a website that's selling the beer: Herforder Pils is a golden, quite dry and hoppy pilsner, a firm favourite of the Army personnel who served in and around Herford in Germany. This Herforder pils though is not the small bottles in “yellow handbags” but the full 500ml size. -

K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
Kasikorn has gone from being very foreign user friendly to being a pain in the ass. Surprisingly KTB (government) allowed me to update information and do some other services without my bank books out of province (just a few verification phone calls to account branch - as they do with Thai citizens), whereas Kbank cited "government regulations" not letting me do the same. Relating to these docs: what happens if we don't reply by 20 December? -

That too, but relatively affordable healthcare in TH is a myth, it'll cost. Getting older does define your life, and getting trapped in TH , would be a nightmare , getting decrepit would be suicide fodder -

Interesting about that German beer. I wonder if it was any good or perhaps just one of their crappy local piltz brews. The reference to banging like a belt fed mortar is very humorous, but obviously borrowed from British military speak. That's what tipped me off. I also read that the term “Herfie handbag” is British military slang that refers humorously to a container or bag used by a soldier to carry personal items or snacks, particularly in a casual or non-standard way. In a broader context I also read that “Herfie” itself is slang for a cigarette break or social gathering, often during military downtime. -

K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
This email and the forms are the normal self-certification for FATCA/CRS. Necessary for the bank to participate. Every bank should have sent this to all old customers in the beginning of the year. Some are slow. (Actually, all are slow.) New customers should have given all this information to the bank when opening the account. Some old customers may have provided this information, but cannot remember it. They are very US-centric because the land of the free is the most intrusive one the US asks a lot more than the EU (CRS is basically the EU version of FATCA - I know this is a simplification)- 1
