Most months I have some things shipped to me here...usually CDs or DVDs I can't get here. It occurred to me that since lactaid caplets are not available here, I could have small quantities of them in my monthly mailing. For example, Amazon sells them, although my monthly package comes through a remailing company in Texas (and yes, I do usually -- although not always -- pay duty). Is there any reason that a health supplement like this wouldn't go through Thai customs?

The only pitfall is if Customs has difficulty figuring out what it is and therefore what the applicable duty would be, in which case things can slow down or even require a trip by you to the customs office (a dire fate, believe me! in terms of suffering entailed, not $$$).

Whether this happens has a lot to do with how the shipment was labeled and also its apparent value and size

In my experience Amazon knows what they are doing when it comes to labeling contents and I have never had a problem getting anything from them in (altho sometimes with duty levied)

But also in my experience they often will not ship certain products overseas including foods and, I think, food supplements. You'll find that out when you complete your online order, if they won't ship to Thailand you'll get a message to that effect (Annoying in that you get this info only after entering all the shipping and billing info)

In that case, you can either try ishop usa (or name something like that -- it's a shipping service that will arrange overseas delivery for almost any online product sold in the US) or buy from amazon and have it sent to a friend in the US to then repackage and send on to you by normal airmail, definitely not Fedex etc.

Hand wrapped and addressed packages come through customs the fastest and easiest. Have them declare it as "nutritional supplement for personal use"

Actually, I have anything form the States shipped here through a remailing service. So far, no problem with FedEx here charging me the duty!!! :) But everything has come through conveniently.
