Importing From China

Featured Replies

Sorry if my query is arcane, but I can't find the answers anywhere. I want to import a (new) vehicle from China, where it is manufactured, but have problems working out if it is feasible. To that end, I am looking for an import agent, so if anyone has any ideas, I'd be really grateful.

Further to this, I have other queries about it, including:

As China and LOS are part of the ASEAN FTA, is the duty less?

It is classified as a quadricycle, road legal etc in the EU and China. Would that be accepted by LOS, or would there need to be emissions tests etc (it isn't a quadbike, but a buggy)?

It has an engine of 1100cc. Will that make a difference?

Would it make any difference if imported by a firm?

Sorry for all this, but I can't find the answers anywhere.

I had to check Wikipedia: a 4 wheeled vehicle?

So is yours a quad bike or is it a small car? Well it doesn't really matter, you will need emissions tests done and a heavy import duty too, so its not worth the effort/money.

You are better off finding something similar in Thailand that are approved.

Is it a heavy import duty even though China and LOS have a FTA?

Well I am not an expert on the subject but I think there is.

If you search motor forum you can see quite a lot of topics on this subject where people are discussing this in detail.
