Boats & Trailers

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of getting a smallish speed boat for fishing and beers with a few friends. Anyone know the rules, if any for hitching a boat and trailer from the back of your motor??

Guess it's pretty much the same as with everything concerning motoring law :D

The rules probably exist, but are not followed, nor enforced :o

I have a 24 ft speedboat (the local wooden model, powered by Yamaha outboard) and it gets moved around on the standard wooden trailer without plates, lights etc...

It's certainly no problem in the bigger Pattaya area, loads of them driving around...

I wouldn't drive up to Bangkok with a wooden trailer like this though, guess a legally registered / equiped trailer will be in order then...

I thought towing was illegal in LoS.

Could someone enlighten me on the law.

I've never seen any box trailers in LoS in 5 years.

I have seen vehicles towed very occasionally in BKK, but its with the heavy duty "Claw hook" not the 50mm tow-ball.

The stuff being towed was Air-compressors etc, never a box-trailer or boat trailer.

Interested to know the real law myself.

Maybe hook up a huge caravan and go up to Issan.

I've seen jet skis, and motor bikes being towed on motorways etc around Bangkok, not sure about the legalities though.
