Now, I am in Bangkok (VERIFIED).

Red shirts have massive amounts of support from the people.

Even when the Yellow shirts put on Pink shirts for the camera's they could not get over 5000 people to go against the Reds.

Many many taxi's and motorbikes roaming the city with Red flags attached to them. Massive support from the city.

This is why the government cannot use force, they are scared all the people who support the reds quietly will suddenly rush out and put on red shirts and fight the army.

This is why the government issues deadlines and some Thai Visa posters demand "violence against Reds" but nothing happens.

Far too much support for Reds by people IN BANGKOK.

I would even suggest support is growing, now that more people are seeing past the propaganda this is "just Thaksin" and realising some people are at last standing up to the elites and their corruption.

Hopefully the House will be dissolved soon and the power returned to the lovely Thai people who can have a vote and excercise their Democratic rights.

And I do believe there can be no compromise when you are dealing with folks who refuse to obey the law and the rights of others regardless of numerous warning and chances to stop their actions that are purposely in clear violation of the law and clearly infringe on the rights of others. The Government has assigned areas for gatherings like this as to not interfere with the lives of others just as other countries have laws related to assemble. These folks need to be cleared out of the area as they would in any other democratic nation if they were disrupting the lives of others in violation of the law.

And yes, they should have cleared out the Yellows at the airport too.

As long as the government shows this kind of weakness in Thailand then you can expect to continue to see continued coups. The election box is the place to get results and there are laws to dictate when elections are held but the PM has still agreed to hold them a year early given events. This is something you certainly would not see by a leader of another democratic society. And you don't have to go back far in US history to see where a president was in all reality put into office by a decision of a court against the will of the majority of voters and likely against the majority of electoral votes.

I already posted a link reporting that despite the efforts of many media outlets in the USA, none were able to show any change in the results based on recounts in the 2000 USA election. while i applaud your efforts to avoid this fact, it is indeed a fact. so youought to remove this red herring from your aguements if you have any intellectual integrity.

Hi Blaze. That could be said of any democracy, that there would at least be a little gratitude. Of course, the military demonstrated complete independence from the legislative branch by nipping the process in the bud.

Support remains very strong for the red shirts amongst Bangkok people. Although they are inconvenienced they know the Reds are for the good of the country and so support them in silence.

This is shown by the fact the Yellow's put on Pink shirts but could only muster less than 5000 on Friday and less than 1000 on Saturday.

The people support the Reds and its why those demanding violence against the reds are disappointed, the government dare not touch the Reds at the moment, it would backfire very quickly.

I think you forgot to switch user names but anyway ... the recounts were called off by the courts. Obviously you are clueless. The recounts were never finished and regardless the court made its ruling to stop counting before anybody could have known the results. Lots of media outlets have claimed many things since then but the bottom line is the full official recount was never concluded. The bottom line it was a court ruling that put Bush in as president and this was NOT what the majority of Americans wanted and his opponent received more votes than him (UNDISPUTED FACTS) ... bottom line is people needed to wait for the next election and hope they got there way next time around. In reality they didn;t get there way until 8-years later but that is democracy.

I was at Siam last night about 11pm, walked through the entire rally, and I would have to say I had a strong 'feeling' from people in the crowd that they are expressing themselves w/o reservation. Just good Thai people who want their country to consider their views.

As I left I could see many people coming to join the rally. Besides, night time is the best time to be out and about in BKK this time of year.
