Here is my situation:

I arrived in Thailand without a visa and I got an apartment in Koh Samui. My plans are to stay in Thailand for the next 3-12 months without a visa and occaisionally travelling to other countries. I am not retirement age. I have another 10 days until I have to leave.

My plan was to fly to Kuala Lumpur and get a 60 day double entry tourist visa with an extension of 30 days and then just continually renew that every time I leave the country every 3 months. Does that sound like a good plan?

Can I buy the extension at the same time I buy the double entry tourist visa?

Does my itinerary below comply with Thai Law?

This is what my itinerary/plan looks like:

March 13--arrived in Bangkok

April 8--Arrive in Kuala Lumpur.

April 9--Apply for Double-Entry tourist visa at the Thai embassy and purchase the extension for 30 days.

April 12--Return to Koh Samui

May 25--Head to Phuket, Thailand.

June 3--Leave for Hawaii

June 14--Arrive back in Thailand and stay up 90 days without a border run.

My other option is to get the TEFL and teach to get a visa but that seems more inconvenient.

My passport is USA.

When arriving on a visa exempt entry, you wil need proof that you will leave the country within 30 days. Without it the airline might not take you with them. So buy the ticket to Vientinne before you leave to Thailand or get the double entry tourist visa in the US. Vientienne is the better choise for getting a double entry tourist visa than KL.

The extension has to be gotten from imigration in Thailand.

He seems to be talking about Kuala Lumpur and he is not likely to obtain such a visa there and in no case would be able to obtain extensions of stay there.

I suspect most Consulates will not be open the week of 12-16 April but have not checked.

Hey, I am already in the country. My airline forced me to buy a ticket out of the country within 30 days.

Thank you for telling me that all I have to do is go to immigration for an extension.

I prefer KL instead of Vientienne because there are direct flights to KL. Why is Vientienne the better choice for getting double entry visas then KL?

Is this just in KL? If I got to another consulate somewhere else, it will be open and allow me to get a double entry visa?

Thank you for your reply in advance.

Here is what I have decided to do:

I called herbert, 0818933859, who has a visa run operation in Nathon on Koh Samui right across the street from the immigration office. I am paying him 5,000 baht. With this I get a trip by land over the border into Malaysia. I stay there one night and then come back. He handles all the paperwork. I get a single entry visa with this.
