Where To Find An Old Cheap Motorbike?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a motorbike around the 10,000 Baht range and have been failing miserably with Pattayas over inflated bike prices.

I do NOT want an automatic so either a step through (dream, wave etc) or something with a clutch would be nicer.

Nothing too big, 100-125 is perfect for Thai roads. Age not important.

I will be in Bangkok over the 17-18th and am thinking of extending my search while I am there but was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on places to look.

Either specific bikes available or shops with a selection.

Also are the songkran festivities likely to still be going on around this time near the Khao San area?

Cheers,

Mark

Just like used cars in Thailand, the demand for used motorbikes in decent condition is so great that prices stay very high. A two year old model in good condition and 10K km will sell for only B5000-B10,000 less than new. Also, many never hit the market as word of mouth among family and friends will usually suffice to sell a decent machine.

I've read on several forums about a regularly scheduled Police auction of confiscated motorbikes in Pattaya but I don't recall when and where. I know there is a dealer of used Motorbikes diagonally across from Tuk-Com on South Pattaya Rd. but his prices are high.

Bkk has a shop on every corner packed full of used bikes. Two models i like are the suzuki raider 150 and the honda dash 2 stroke. no reason you cannot fine one in presteen condition for under 15,000 baht. look for shops that work on them as well as sell new. They always have bikes they took in trade. Ladprow and ramkumhieng road have alot. There is also one on sereethai road across from the 7 by the lake just as you turn of of ramkumhieng. Nice people one speaks english and will even have it delevered to pattaya. Not sure if that will offset the price difference you are talking about.

I can show you bikes all day long from 8k to 15K, one problem no plates or book. :)
