SomTumTiger
Lot of unconfirmed rumors flying in Thai websites (according to my missus) about Thakin having cancer, and being in a Dubai hospital. Perhaps this might be a reason for the last stand mentality.

jdinasia
I'm relieved and impressed that the PM has said in public how inept Thai law enforcement is. I sympathise with him as I did when the previous PM Samak failed to resolve the airport fiasco. I continue to wonder how quickly a small group of trained law enforcement officers from any developed nation could mop things up in BK. I think 500 officers and around 2 days to disperse the red shirts and disuade any further protests indefinitely. Samak wasn't in office during the airport rally. Somchai was. bubba
Channel 9 on live video now showing reds throwing molotov cocktails into buildings near Phan Fa and setting then on fire. They are ordinary shophouses. The living and working places of ordinary working people. What sort of a "people's revolution" is this? moresomekl
Today I just witnessed the worse national disgrace and misuse of the military since I watched the East Germans Army trampled their neighbors with similar shields as we just watched on TV.Soldiers are supposed to exist to protect the Country and its citizens. Today we watched as politicians used these soldiers to trample their friends and families and children and monks and all to try to hold the poor and dis-enfranchized Thais hostage to their quest for continued power over them. I won't bother to respond to anyone who would attempt to defend this disgrace. The whole government is responsible for this disaster now. There can be no excuse for this disgrace brought on the country and these soldiers. If they had any integrity they would submit the resignations NOW. If the redshirt leaders had any integrity this whole thing would never have started. Filling peoples minds with hate speech night after night. Death threats. Violence. This has been their message, even though the were able to keep the violence under control for the first weeks. The redshirt leaders should be jailed. No government anywhere in the world would have been as patient or tolerant as the Abhisit government has been. When the redshirts finally pushed too hard the Thai people demanded the government respond. Understand and agree but there is also an immense frustration by the reds to feel having been robbed of their votes , you must understand that . Even the PTP is staying out of it .They could have harnessed the red movement towards a more political agenda , they did not . Those reds are left out to hang ... with their anger .. Its a shame Edited : Typo Edited April 10, 2010 by moresomekl

vicco
I understand the excitation of some of you with the conflict on-going. However, things are taking a bad orientation for all sides and may become uncontrollable. This entire story one way or the other will finish in negotiation and compromises. The military gesticulations have no more object than positioning each other in favourable position for the discussions. I think as an experienced man, we have to call everybody to the restraint and to cool down: losses of lives must be avoided. Lives are invaluable Good point . You say "let soften them a bit" then negociate . Makes sense . Definitely we must remain measured , and all will if we dont hear all the time the violent anti-red rethoric of the last 3 weeks What a load of old croc. The reds are going all out with guns and petrol bombs and you are being Mr Reasonable. Thaksin apologist trying on yet another set of clothes. Why don't you just give this Thaksin apologist bullshit a rest..people are being killed in the streets...from both sides.......and this is all you have to say.. You have used this meaningless expression so many times it's just annoying.....

Thai at Heart
Pick up driven in front of the stage at the Red rally. Stretchered dead body carried across the crowd covered in a blue blanket. It is at times like this you wish technology didn't allow this to be seen. The speakers are trying to whip the crowd into even more of a frenzy. This is going to descend into absolute carnage I fear. ChiangMaiThai
I just walked down directly into the center of Rachaprasong. One thing to see it on TV. Another to see it with your own eyes. Those people will not go quietly. Tens of thousands all screaming and clapping and blowing horns. All the roads leading to the intersection are closed with cars and trucks blocking the way. Lots of women and children in the crowd.

I had to sit and listen to a Thai client ramble on this afternoon expressing the above opinions while biting my tongue the entire time. I assert with certainty that the 3 above opinions are deely felt by a large percentage of pro-govt supporters. It truly is unfortunate that people are losing their lives and it does sadden me. kissdani
Well, i have seen pictures how the reds shirts covered CCTV cameras at a subway station with black plastic bags, probably to prevent the police from observing their movement. There are many other ways to put cameras out of order but they chose a way that cause no damage. It was a peaceful rally until today. Televisions shows now the entrance to a hospital, a continuous stream of injured people coming in. It all looks not good and i feel sad for Thailand. Thanks for these updates... no TV I wish the Brits and Yanks had guts like this.. like both sides. Red and Yellow. Steamrollered into submission, into a never ending cycle of naff politicians, and national apathy as nation states erode into economic zones.
