Lorenzo...wow. The boy is on it this year and it looks like his mechanics are finding solutions to the rear grip issues of the yamaha quicker than rossi's crew on the other side of the wall. will be an awesome season for sure.

P.s what in the world is wrong with casey stoner?? looks like a return to 2006 with all these crashes!

Good point. Stoner seems to be really on it and flying or really off it and sliding.

Could be a return to his earlier days?

Not too sure but its certain that he will come back strong as when he gets it together he really does fly.

I just watched the replay of the WSBK races from the states.

Can't imagine how Careless Chucker must have felt having broke down in both races whilst leading reasonably comfortably.

Commentator imformed us that the team decided to use the same bike that broke down in the first race to go out into the second race.

What a mistake to make.

Max is now leading the series after Haslams poor weekend. Have to say that the bike and rider look like they could run away with it, I think its something like 3 x double wins in a row now.

This weekends Italian Moto GP will be some race......can't wait!

SHOCKER.

Looks as if Rossi's challenge for the 2010 Moto GP crown is over.

After suffering an exsposed fracture of the tibia during a fall in practice, it is unlikely that he will be racing again until the end of the year, realistically.

The surgeons have operated on the doctor, pinning the fracture.

This a great blow for Rossi and all his fans, indeed, the race series will miss him greatly. Very unfortunate.

This race will be the first that he will not have started for many years, ending a continuous run of race starts since the 1996.

Sad news and I wish him all the best for his recovery.

Lorenzo will now start to run away with the title, I believe.

Yes, it was a shock to me, i didnt know till the commetators mentioned it during the 125 race, and since the start of the moto gp race, Lorenzo has gone up a lot in my appreciation, declaring that Vale is a Legend, and to wear a Rossi T-shirt on the podium, Good Lad!!!,

Was good to hear Rossi speaking from his hospital bed at the start of the race and the Ducati fans doing the "italian wave" for him, brilliant stuff!!

230 back to back GP starts, perhaps they can strap him onto Steve Websters chair outfit for a couple of races just so he continues his GP starts?

I dont think it will be too long before the Doctor is back, hes rode with a broken hand and foot before now!

Moto2 was again brilliant, but it would be good if Scott Reddings boast of being in the top 5 all year come true!!

Congrads Bradley, lets see what you can do at Silverstone, go for it!!

The fact that Lorenzo wore a Rossi shirt on the podium will have earnt him a huge amount of respect from all fans of Moto GP. I thought it was a really good move he made there and desrves praise for it.

The show will certainly miss him but also offers a taste of how it will be when he eventually leaves the series. Also the chance for some of the other guys to shine through is now possible, it was a great race for forth with Casey, Marco and Randy bashing fairings with each other, its a shame that Nicky fell off....not as bigger shame as Rossi,s broken leg.

Get well soon Vale!

The Moto2 race was a cracker was'nt it Lickey? As well as the 125 race,,Bradley must have disappointed not to have at least claimed a podium place.

Cheers

Yes, Pedrosa did well, a good start as usual, and led from start to finish, it was like waving a flag at a bull to Lorenzo, in my mind, lorenzo grew up at the weekend, perhaps he could of caught pedrosa, but at a high risk of crashing doing so, if he crashed out, pedrosa would be level on points with him,

And Lorenzo must have thought about what happened to Rossi, in his accident, he kept his calm and place and got 20 points, well done,

MotoGP, it will be hard to imagine without Rossi after 14 or so years, a very likeable bloke!

Same as the TT, i didnt follow it much after the death of Joey Dunlop in Latvia, 26 times a winner at the TT, i dont think that will ever be beaten,

Anybody want to post there favorite biking heros while we wait for the next GP form Silverstone UK, [old airfield, flat and featureless}

For me, its

Joey Dunlop

Phil Read

Mike Hailwood

Barry Sheene

Mick Grant

Kork Ballinton

John Cooper

Peter Williams

Barry Ditchburn

Niall Makenzie

Ron Haslam

Valentino Rossi

And loads more who have gave me some of the greatest weekends of my life,,

By the way, go to youtube, type in Honda 6 startup or Phil Read MV Augusta and listen to those incredible sounds, lots to choose from,

Cheers, Lickey..

Nice one Lickey.

I wonder who will be appointed as a stand in for the doctor????? What an act to follow and it will take some nerve to step into his boots...so to speak.

I can't think of many unless Tech 3 agree to step up Colin Edwards or Bens Pies.

Gary McCoy is out of a ride after earlier confirmation of starting with the new "FB Corse" team which seems it won't get to the grid now. Its unlikely that he would be offered the ride but you never know.

As far as all time favourite racers go who I have seen race:-

Vale.

Barry Sheene

Kevin Schwantz

Randy Mamola

Mick Doohan

Steve Hislop

Freddie Spencer

Rob Mac

Niall Makenzie

Rocket Ron

Pier "Frankie" Chili ( for being completely sideways exiting coppice every lap in the 87(( i think)) GP)

Carl Fogarty for his riding alone , not for his comments.

The list can go on, I do feel a bit miffed that I have never been to a TT though....there is still time but unlikely.

Hihttp://www.motorbikesport.co.uk/riderbiography.aspx?id=12 Soihok, seems like your vieing career was a few years after mine, my kids were being born then so that put the mockers on things a bit,

Just done a bit of research about the Haslams, yes, Leon did compete in 125 and 500 GPs, and dad Ron did a 100 500gps, plus 1 at silverstone on the Norton JPS rotary, got a point for 15th, but it kept coming into my mind that the rotary had been in OZ at a GP, and i found it, Steve Spray at Philip Island also came in 15th on the rotary, the year before,

I remember very well the comments at Snetterton at a British formula 1 meeting, [pre BSB] the Nortons were there, with Steve Spray and Trevor Nation, the nortons went down the Revvett straight like all else were in slow motion, after the racing, the riders complained that the oil mist from the Nortons made them unable to see through the bombhole and into Corams, the comentator, Dave Bailey i think it was, said thats what racing is all about, you have to stay in front of them!!

Heres the Leon Haslam site

http://www.motorbikesport.co.uk/riderbiography.aspx?id=12

Oh yes, i agree with your coments about Fogarty, a very good racer, but his off track coments were mind boggling, even when he won, he would say I could have won by more if,,,,,

Frankie never hit him hard enough at Assen!!

Thanks for the links Lickey, I enjoyed your post.

I remember that Frankie was in his dressing gown when he had a go at Foggy (the look on Foggy's missus face) ,pure classic!!!!!

When I get time I,ll do a youtube search.

I do remember the JPS Nortons in the pre BSB days, Trev Nation and Steve Spray, I spent some great Sundays at Cadwell and Mallory watching the races.....never knew they raced in Aus.

The machines were fire breathing beasts.

Nice one.

Back to work :)

Today will see the first practice laps of this weekends MotoGP race at, a modified, Silverstone.

The track will be new to all the riders, although Stoner has raced at Donnington before, the track is not the same now.

So the championship becomes narrower without Rossi, or opens up, depending how you look at it. The doctor will be missed and it is also a shame that the fans won't get to see him ride.

British WSBK rider Cal Crutchlow has turned down an offer to ride for Tech3 which means that Edwards is lining up taking over Rossi's ride on the Factory Yamaha. But there will be no second Fiat Yamaha rider this weekend, so the teams combined efforts are focussed on Lorenzo.

Who will win?

Dunno, but there will be fireworks :)

The link below opens a site that shows Rossi's accident. His leg is like a banana on photos 8&9. OUCH!

I watched the opening GP2 race and thought that cannot be equalled in GP or 125s, but it really was close, all 3 races,

Seems like the ex 250 boys are now getting the hang of the 600cc four strokes, albeit same sealed engine, Cluseau [peter sellers?] stayed on the bike this time, good for him, he said pre-race that hes got to cut out the crashes!!

Nicky Hayden is nearly there again, but that small mistake let Spies through, Lorenzo ran away with it, Wonder where he got the Beatles idea from, anybody know?

3rd place, well done Bradley, you fort hard for that, during the last lap i really thought you would be 1st,

Assen will be next saturday, and much more entertaining than Englands efforts in the WC..

Cheers, Lickey.

Great races indeed.

Well done Lorenzo....he cleared right off into the distance did'nt he.

A good battle for second and third, Bens Pies getting his first podium in MotoGP. Hayden must have been disappointed with losing out on third, but finished in front of Stoner..again.

There were only 15 riders at the start, which made it a bit depleted (especially after the Moto2 race which about 40 started). The Moto2 race was a cracker.

So,, Rossi's replacement will be?

Colin Edwards publically announced he won't be stepping in, B Pies cannot as he is still in his first year (new rule which does not allow riders gain factory rides within the first year in MotoGP).Or will the rules be bent on some grounds that no-one can be found?

WSBK rider Crutchlow has said no( and cannot anyway...the new rule)...Do you think James Toseland will step up to the mark?? He already has two years of MotoGP experience.

Very possible.

Gary McCoy was to race this year in MotoGP but the team never made it, also a possiblity as he has competed in GP's before.

Well Soihok, i never did rate Toseland, he got his WSB championships by consistency rather than outright wins, which i suppose is no bad thing, but wins do make a champion in the publics eyes,,

Perhaps Niall Mackenzie should have a go? just paint the bike up in Cadburys Boost colours and send him off!!

It was great to hear Niall on the comentory, his son Taylor was in the 125s as a wild card, but something happened on the last lap and DNF,

Rossi is out of hospital now, and im pretty sure he will be back very soon, perhaps 1 month?

Assen TT on saturday, cant wait!!

Looks like Wataru Yoshikawa is replacing rossi for the next 3 races, hes the development rider for Yam M1 in Japan,

And we are in for a great weekend, so get some extra beer in!!

Assen TT Saturday, starts 15 57 thai time, 3 races as usual,,

Italian WSB Sunday, prog starts at 16 45, second race 20 15, [again,as usual, please check these times] ...

So comeon Bradley and Scott at Assen, and im sure there will be some Brits on the Muggello podium,,,

Well done to Ian Hutchinson, 5 TTwins in 1 week, first time ever,

Cheers, Lickey..

Yoshikawa will stand in from the Catalunya GP and it seems V.Rossi will be back from Brno GP ( latest Indianapolis GP ).....the sooner the better.

I've just read in an Italian website that Ducati has told Casey Stoner and his crew to find a new bike for the next year as Rossi and his crew have already agreed to move to Ducati. If this is true, it would be a great news for Ducati lovers.

Top Teams for 2011.

* Honda Repsol - Casey Stoner & Andrea Dovizioso

* Fiat Yamaha - Jorge Lorenzo & Ben Spies

* Ducati Marlboro - Valentino Rossi & Nicky Hayden

* Honda Telefonica ( New Team ) - Dani Pedrosa - I believe TELEFONICA will come back with Pedrosa and try to repeat the goods years they had while Pedrosa was in 250.

Thought that the replacement would be difficult.

So the replacement for Rossi is a development rider (in his forties), better than no one I suppose but not exactly going to start any fires.

I would have stepped up to it but ,being a rookie also, I did'nt apply :D

The gap between Lorenzo and Stoner is very very small. Hope to see a good fight this Saturday!!!

In my opinion the races will finish as below:

MOTOGP: 1. Lorenzo, 2.Stoner, 3. Dovizioso. Pole: Lorenzo MOTO2: 1. Simón, 2. Corsi, 3. Elías. Pole: Simón

125cc: 1. Terol, 2. Pol Espargaró, 3. Smith. Pole: Pol Espargaró.

I have been impressed by Randy De Puniet's performance lately.

His tyres went off at Silverstone but he was doing well up to that point.

Should be a good race :)

What is your podium prediction for this Saturday MotoGP race??

The weather in Assen is expected to be as last week in Silverstone, mostly sunny with low temperatures. There is a small chance of rain during today's qualifying.

Podium, well.

Lorenzo - De Puniet - Hayden. Bens Peas will be forth. Casey could surprise us and have a podium finish.

I think Lorenzo is in great form now, boosted by the reality that this could be his year now the Doctor is injured.

Dani Pedrosa seems to be very inconsistant at the moment, either he's on the pace or well off it. Going on free practice, Colin E could have a good race and he seems to get on with Assen.

We'll have to wait and see.

Nice one.

So De Puniet will start in second to Lorenzo.

I think Lorenzo will disappear into the distance.

Moto2 will be a cracker...as its turning out be a great race series.

I also think Lorenzo will dissapear after few laps, I only see Stoner capable of doing something to "stop" him as Randy usually starts very strong but usually loses pace at the end of the races.

Moto2 : Will Iannone dissapear as he did at Mugello? Let's see but for sure it will be a great race as usual.

Cheers and enjoy the races

Shame indeed.

Ratthapark almost got a podium finish there, which is a surprise considering that his results up to now have'nt been outstanding.I wonder if the team have found a winning set up now. I would love to see him at the head of the championship. Good result for him and it was a great race.

Lorenzo again, with Dani close on his heels. Casey got his frist podium of the year.

Randy fluffed his start in tremendous style and he never recovered from it, he must be hugely disappointed at that. Dovi and Bens Peas did well followed by a distant De Puniet and Nicky Hayden....I wonder when he will climb the podium again?

I feel that the show is missing the doctor now but it will not be until the end of the year until we see him again. A compound fracture is a very serious injury.

Lorenzo is the man to beat now.

WSBK races also today....nice one!
