I believe Chiang Saen is going to be active this weekend? Anybody been up there in previous years? Apparently a parade/ceremony which I'm not much into but the boat races could be fun. I'll have to be up there anyway as I need to show my face up at the lovely Mae Sai checkpoint. (I'll be renting a car, anybody wishing to pay half petrol is welcome to get in touch.)

Is there enough depth and width in the Mekong for this..or will they move it to the Chiang Saen Lake..should be a good day..enjoy

I got up there abt 3:30 and missed the boat races. Just a gazillion people with almost as many food stalls. Kids throwing water around but seemed to concentrate on traffic rather than pedestrians. Nothing special to see. The Mekong seemed to have plenty of water in it - I was interested in this as I was thinking of taking a boat upriver, however I've left that for another time.
