Need to measure dog's intraocular pressure (i.e. inside the eyes) and check for retinal detachment. Any vets specializing at ophthalmology? Where to go in Samui (or closest on mainland)? Thanks in advance. :)

If anyone would know, Nicky from Creature Comfort Samui would. She has helped me out so many times. Her heart is really into the welfare of animals.

Unfortunately I cant post the URL, but if you Google 'Creature Comfort Samui' you will get her contact details.

Best of luck for your pooch

Samui Cat and Dog recsue have 1 or 2 full time vets (trained) but they are maxed out apparently so dont expect the most friendly reception if a) you give a dam_n and :) you give dam_n so much you can afford to do private, nothing is free (as some people have complained previously). They did the jabs for a stray cat outside my rented place for a few hundred baht - I wasnt arsed but the dam_n thing was biting everyone coming to the place so fair enough - 300 baht donation - sorted. Eye problems maybe a little more but it cant be uncommon. Failing that the Vets near big C, near the Bistro coffee shop.

Dog eye - aint that what you get soon as you wake-up after a wee bit too many sherberts the night before?

And about 30 minutes later (time varies per person) you are overcome with the animals hair?

Love these posts, I hope you can still read this when you are sober. :)

With help from wonderful Nicky (thanks Bridge!) we took our dog to the pet clinic in Chaweng, the one opposite main post office. They seem to be the only Samui clinic with at least some equipment for eye examination. As for paying Samui Cat and Dog rescue - no problem, but they are unlikely to help in our situation.

Any input concerning dog ophthalmologist in Samui or nearby mainland will be greatly appreciated.

I take my dogs there now, the one opposite the post office, if you go after 5 pm , ask to see Dr Somsak.

You can also ask the question hereyou might get a little bit more guidance, re location of hospitals on mainland.

Glad she was able to help your pooch. She certainly does a great job.

Another thumbs up for Somsak, the Animal Clinic opposite the post office at Chaweng. We take both our dogs there.

It's funny because the old lady who sells flowers at the ferry terminal at Donsak is his mother! She told me when I bought flowers from her a month or so ago. It's a small world!

We took our lab (just for a checkup) there yesterday, unfortunately to find a notice up saying they are closed until the 26th.

Hm, do I understand you correctly Mr BigC that you know of a good pet clinic in Chumphon? As for the clinic being a bit peng, well maybe we could handle that... Have you got their phone number or e-mail?

Sincerely,

Ms Basement Cat
