Edge Speeds In Thailand

Featured Replies

I have a smartphone with DTAC that I like to use as my backup-internet in case my Maxnet ADSL (very rarely) goes down. For fun I decided to test the speed today ... abysmal:

This is 56k (analog modem) speeds. EDGE should be 256k down afaik (notice this is just a simple test to Bangkok, not even international). Imagine they attempt to provide 3G with that kind of internet capacity. :)

Am I just unlucky? Are they usually better?

Naaah... spot on... I show 237kb/s but speeds are usually around those you have tested..using Novatel modem on DTAC also...roll on 3G someday..

lucky you have a choice where you are...

"they say" that 3G will be very reliable and very fast.."they" say :)

I would say the tests from my DTAC EDGE to Bangkok from Chiangmai are usually in the below ranges the majority of the time.
