Thailand to open a network of visa centres in India

NEW DELHI: The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi is opening a network of Thailand Visa Application Centres in India, with the first centre in New Delhi.

There has been a huge increase in the number of visitors from India to Thailand, leading to a big rush of applicants for Thai visas.

To ensure that visitors from India to Thailand continue to get access to high quality of visa services, the government of Thailand is announcing this new initiative. The first Thailand Visa Application Centre located at A-2/35, Choudhary J S Marg, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi, will be open to the travelling public from June 9, 2005.

The centre will be operated by VFS (India) on behalf of the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi. Residents of northern India applying for all types of temporary visas (tourist, transit, and non-immigrant) will now be able to submit visa applications across the counter at the centre.

“I am pleased to announce the commencement of a new visa application facility for the residents of north India. I am sure that this new service will make the visa application process far more convenient for visitors to Thailand. Thailand and India have shared a close relationship for many years, and by this new initiative, the government of Thailand aims at reinforcing the close historic ties,” the ambassador of Thailand, Chirasak Thanesnant, said.
