Manhunt for senior Pattaya Police Officer wanted in connection with RPG attack in Bangkok

PATTAYA:-- Just after 8am on Saturday we joined a team of offers from the Department of Special Investigations (DSI) from Bangkok who are currently hunting for a senior Pattaya Police Officer and his wife who are thought to be connected with a failed RPG attack which took place on 20th March where the intended target was the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok.

why would anybody want to fire at the temple, why they failed and why nothing was said shortly after the attempted attack?

why not do a little research before commenting, google can be your friend

the full story is in a newspaper we cannot reproduce here and is on MCOT english

the Emerald Buddha is a revered representative of a certain instituation that cannot be referred to here

if it were to fall, then it would be taken as a sign another great institution would fall with it

the attack failed because the rocket propelled grenade hit power lines at the temple and was deflected into the nearby Defence ministry

so that was originally thought to be the target of the grenade attack

the Temple of the Emerald Buddha was not known to be the target until the hired gun confessed that it was the actual target and that he had been paid 500,000 baht by the Pattaya police officer and his red shirt leader wife

had the conspiracy been successful in destroying the Buddha this would have caused great distress to many millions of Thais who would have seen this as very bad kharma indeed

as Howard has reported they have now skipped town with DSI in hot pursuit

lets hope they get them soon and see who provided the 500,000 for the attack or have the policeman justify it on his wages

its a lot of tickets for no helmets

there, all done for you..........

The Emerald Buddha is so important to the Thai people and there would be such an outcry that I doubt the usual lie of it was the Yellows would wash this time...

The sooner the catch these people and start to actually find the money trail and then start to prove just how these people who pretend to be the friend of the poor have actually exploited them for decades.

I dont know target the RPG was intended for, all I can think of is how on earth a Thai will pay another thai so much money to miss the target and then rat him out. I actually believe some folks who would do a better job at a much lesser fee abound.

I hope they all get their day in court. Violence and politics, a volatile mix, some stories dont check out long time.
