June 10, 200520 yr I can only agree Insight. You have what it takes, so I am pretty sure getting another job wont be that difficult. Personally, I live my life in 3-4 year cycles... it is not a good way, but it's the way I work. After 4 years of doing something, be it work, hobby, relationship... I feel it is time to get out and do something else. Anyone else the same as me?
June 10, 200520 yr Author Guys, I'm overwhelmed, seriously. Sincere thanks for all the constructive and thoughtful replies. Afraid I'm in the middle of a conference right now so don't have time to construct a proper reply, but will do my best to get an update of sorts out before Monday. My Very Best Regards, Insight.
June 13, 200520 yr Author Another update is overdue... This weekend and today went pretty well. The bottom line of it was my friends starting an outsourcing operation in Thailand for the bulk load of work they have in the UK. Things didn’t go exactly how they wanted; they checked with HSBC about what’s required for them to start an operation out here independently (without my assistance) and balked at the requirements (as many people do). Bottom line – they’ll need an existing presence out here if it’s going to work initially. Cue me. I’m a few beers in now and don’t mind admitting that, in some ways, I regret starting this topic a bit – it’s never wise to announce a personal situation publicly, even if it is to a limited audience. I was anticipating the cringe-worthy, generic “you don’t know how lucky you are working in Thailand” responses, but very thankfully that didn’t happen, and have a lot appreciation to you all for that. The next few weeks are pretty much going to be “touch and go” and will dictate my future in Thailand. My biggest concern right now is how much the people I work for have pieced together, given the reason I’ve taken today as a holiday, and what I’ve told them in the past about what my friends who have visited me are doing in the UK and why they have chosen to give Thailand a visit. The “excuse” I’ve constructed is that they’re on a visit to Australia and was simply stopping by to see how I was. Hope it washes well. All the best, Insight
