That is why we the Americans revolted and had that Boston Tea Party, LOL.   I wonder if there was booze involved, but anyway after this so called Party with Tea, they decided to snub up their noses at England and said come and get us  you  farts.

He,He,He.....It gets better.

The boston tea party was a politcal protest against taxation on tea.

It came in the midst of a boycott of English tea (after the introduction of the Tea act 1773) during which the East India Company, which owned the tea, had seen its profits plummet.

The Sons of Liberty (Political organisation), boarded 3 ships in Boston Harbor. dressed, as Mohawk Indians. They ditched ?9,659 worth of Darjeeling into the sea.

Yehaa. Up the revolution! :DB)B) That showed us eh? :o

So, basically the reason america is not a colony is because they wouldn't pay their taxes

Also, I'm pretty sure that even including Romans, Germans and Aliens :o Britain hasn't been invaded for a lot longer than two hundred years, I'm reckoning about 937-ish

Even more of an achievement given we haven't got a population of 300 million obnoxious, loud-mouthed, special-cases that would make even the most determined invading force think twice.

Dave Yo is the most intelligent poster I have ever seen on any forum ever.

You just have to read his advice elsewhere on being stopped at Don Muang airport.

A fricking genius , absolutely.

All of 12 , obviously.

I have no problem with USA as stated before , but the sheer bufoonery of the comments here is a diservice to those americans who have some reasoning.

Daveyo , when you actually get a passport and travel the world you will sadly see that the world does not hold USa in awe. Uk has a shitty reputation also , but by and large we don't give 2 shits what people think about us anymore , why bother?

Night Night.

Hmm, interesting thread.

Submarines got a start in the rudimentary way during the American Revolutionary War [The Turtle], not very successfully. A second whack at it during the American Civil War, but on the Confederate side [CSS Hunley], which damaged one American ship of war, but was lost in the attempt and had killed two crews during training or manuevers previously.

Boston Tea Party was about taxes which is has proved to be a constant source of arguement in the states. However, the British were set on her American colonies paying for the cost of their defense [French & Indian War] and as a source of revenue for Great Britain herself, but did not see the colonists as quite complete citizens. No rights in Parliment and so forth. There were points to be made for both sides, but as neither seemed to listen too hard, they were lost and history tells the rest.

Hey Chon, what I did at the airport was legal. For anyone to understand you would have to be there. I was well away from customs and passed that point for any questions to be raised. In fact like I said my wife was like less than 40 feet away and I was out in the public. No one was saying Hey Sir, Hey Sir, you need to come back for more scanning. By the way I had nothing to hide anyway, and of course I had to pay extra for my luggage, and this money for simply bringing in a box of broken glass pictures which to my consternation was enough enroute from all these inspections which was done they did not pack it right like I had to protect it.

OK, and by the way I have traveled yearly for the last 47 years never missing a heartbeat, and have traveled around the world. I am well aware of what goes on at airports. As to other Americans I would think that if they had nothing to hide they themselves would know in their own way when enough is enough.

I know for example in Malaysia, being out in the garage as you about to pack your stuff into to car and you fire up your medicine they stop you. What a bummer. Like we have to literally hide our own frigin cigs like kids.

Some of the rules in place is way out of line.

I have nothing against the Brits, and of course many are indeed smart. But ask yourself why so many Brits in the past year getting nailed in Thailand. Makes me wonder and of course the same to others.

It is not the world according to Daveyo. It is a world according to society of what they believe in and of what they think is right and many of us of course cannot be so accomodated fully to be satisfied. The gist of the problem is your rules of what your personal convictions are and of what mine is and of what other like for example Dr. PP and a few other members herein is all different and we all have different point of views.

I respect your view and of the others. With that said I hope you understand that what took place regarding to me may not apply to you or to others. I am not here to advocate it, but it just so happens to be that time and place for me.

Most likely they passed it off as another stupid farang which is fine with me. Got no problem with it. I would rather like them to think I am stupid and naive. Better for me in the long run. This way I get to keep my rabbits safely tucked in and can use it when needed.

Now back to the issue of the poor bloke, what is the latest coming from his hearing?? Anyone know????????

Dave, sorry about that. I'm just out of time here.

I am however still waiting on that other british faggot to let me know when he's coming to Florida as I would like to give him my home address if and when he actually arrives so he can show me how tough he is.

I'm outta here. How can you stand it? All they do is whine, snivel and cry.

These fairies can't wipe their own asss, and any further replies are simply a waste of time.

But I will certainly indulge the servant from england to come here and when done may even let him cut my lawns.

Oh Vietnam , still name calling , a faggot, a fairy, your mood swings are quite intriguing. I could guarantee by your tone that you've not been out for a while.

A shame really some of your posts a re reasonably intelligient , then you start the name calling again. Offer me a milkshake , then call me a faggot , I'm missing something here. I won't respond in kind , but you'll keep for now.

No more verbal sparring from me , I tire of these one sided affairs.

If you're such a successful businessman what the heck are you spending so much time on this non-related site anyway?

You should however be careful about these insults when your address is clearly visible on your website , if it is a real one. It's a small world , no little man such as yourself can hide quite so easily behind such a tirade, then expect a safe night's sleep. What to do , what to do...............

Also your perception , and Daveyo's of British men being fairies and sweetpeas is a tad askew , I could guarantee, having travelled throughout USA more than a few times, the Average American would come unstuck against the average Brit in a battle of wits or physical ,as well you may find out.

For the amount of Brit bashing you have attempted , you deserve nothing less.

Funny old world.I used to live in a dodgy pub for a while as a friend of mine had to start at the bottom of the pub management chain.I can honestly say it got to the stage were i could count on one hand the number of people i regularly had contact with that didnt take drugs. The change in attitudes towards drink was the most enlighting aspect. The majority of these regular drug users who mostly were hard working family men, looked down with disgust at people who coundnt handle their drink and drank to much.

I totally agree with you about alcohol Beggs but what saddens me more is the death, misery and lives that are constantly being ruined , not through drugs, but by the fact that some drugs are illegal. This ridiculous war on drugs should be stopped .Many of these "lads" in this pub had a very colourful history invovling drinking and then proceeding to beat the crap out of anyone who upset them. They discovered drugs like pot, ectasy and cocaine and became normal people who avoided trouble at every opportunity.I t got to the stage where i could predict when there would be violence because there were no drugs around so people would be just drinking.

Im not condoning drug use because it is illegal and do not partake myself but the evidence i have witnessed is that like anything in life if you abuse something it will ruin your life.People that ruin their lives through misuse of illegal drugs will just find another way to ###### up their lives if they cannot get these drugs.

Years ago i used to always be in Pubs , (drinking like a man), in fact i was just another piss head, then i met a girl that was into smoking dope, we used to have a joint or 2 in her car, then go to a pub, but instead of doing all my money getting pissed, i used to drink orange juice. I could see when i was not drinking what a bad drug Alcohol really is, but of course because the majority of people drink alcohol it is accepted as being normal and not really a drug.......

I have tried to get a debate going on a few threads about the use of Alcohol as the drug of peoples choice, many of the people that would have this kid lifed off in Prison, will in fact be drinking Alcohol on a daily basis, using their drug of choice..............

I think younger people will look at the older generation stumbling and staggering through life, and think that they should also have a choice to take whatever drug they want, not only Government Taxed Drugs that kill millions.

Do i feel more at ease with some guys smoking a joint, or with people drinking Alcohol..............No contest. I have seen so much violence fuelled by Alcohol, i have never seen that with grass or hash. People do not use Alcohol because they are thirsty, they use it because it is a mind altering substance, just like the kids do when they use their drugs, yet these Alcohol users will happily see a Kid get life imprisonment, while they moralise into their Beer Glass about how he is such a bad person.

Absolutely spot on . Ive lost count of the number of lives ive seen ruined through alcohol.I used to be a factory supervisor and one christmas we had a works get to gether. One of the guys was the nicest blokes i had working under me. Polite , hard working , trustworthy, wife ,2 kids etc..We basically did a pub crawl and towards the end of the night this lad got into an argument with a woman bar owner. She basically embarresed him infront of everybody , terrible customer management for a woman , where woman are usually better for diffusing difficult situations. We proceeded to leave the bar thinking no problems we move on.This lad then ran back to this woman grabbed a pint glass and ramed it in her face. All alcohol induced. The lad got 3 years in prison ( rightly so) and the woman had to have extensive surgery on her face.A ll because of alcohol.

Last night i went for a birthday drink at a friends restaurant here in Thailand. Horrific crash occured outside while were eating. One guy drunk on a motorbike riding the wrong side of the road smashes head on into another motorbike carrying a man and 12 year old boy.Broken arms legs and hips all round. 3 more lives ruined through alcohol.

Begs and Parry, I couldn't agree with you more. Thank you for some level headed thinking. Smuggling ecstacy or marijuana may be very stupid and is certainly against the law. However, what justice is served in sending a guy to prison for life or executing a guy for smuggling a drug that is less harmful than alcohol? Is it 'just' simply because the governemnt deems the substance illegal? No. It may be within the rule of law, but it is anything but just.

It is not the short term effects that bother most. It is the long term effects. In the 60's LSD was a drug of choice and many took it without realizing the danger. Also drug suppliers or manufacturers will not even want to touch the illegal drugs that people consume a whole 10 miles away because they know what is in this stuff. They don't even let members of their families take it.

If these drugs were so good and did mankind a tremendous benefit, boy, governments around the world would be advocating it and even making it legal for you to purchase.

Ask Doctors, or registered nurses around what this stuff can do to you 5 years down the road.

Alcohol destroys your liver over the course of time. For women to take alcohol is even worse, their bodies are not made like men and consuming such causes more health problems than they would ever want within a few years later on down the road. Also alcohol stays inside girls bodies twice as long because of the fatty tissue women create to bear children and make milk, thanks to estrogen!

Men are leaner which of course then the booze dissipates much faster out of our systems.

After booze is consumed it become a very deadly poison inside the body, which the liver has to convert this poison into a harmless fluid or it will kill you.

If one wants it is OK to have a glass after a hards day of work. Who doesn't. But going to get drunk or just going for the routine of it is another matter. I have seen many just start off having one on occassion, then to one daily, then keep graduating till it is ridiculous. People become so alcohol induced and get so used to it you don't even realize you have become an alcoholic.

Same for cigs. All of this crap is very addicting. Basically ruins you without you knowing it. I am a cig smoker, and I know I should quit but it is so darn hard when your lungs cry out for some more nicotine. It is a tough life

So the best advice, DON'T START EVER. Then you never have to worry of it destroying you.

Do You Mean Cigarettes and Alcohol, That make up 97% of all drug related deaths, or do you mean illicit drugs that are tyhe other 3%?

Begs, your percentages are exaggerating. I do know that 97 percent of the population do not do cigs or alcohol on a constant everyday basis.

I would say perhaps a good 50 to 60 percent of the worlds population does not take either cigs or alcohol. It is a well known fact over 60 percent of the population in this world take legal drugs for all the ailments mankind has to offer.

At least 40 percent of the world population of youngster ranging between ages of 12 to around 25 take it illegally both drugs and alcohol and cigs (individually or in combinations) constantly especially on the party nights.

Many adults from say 25 up to around 40 or more take the hard stuff like coke or some other crap. It is a wonder that I see lawyers so pumped up in court and others so boozed out in front of the Judge yet makes me speechless of the stupid marvels they create. This is only one scenario mind you. What about the members of the Board, or the stock traders at the exchange or even some cops, or politicians or heck why not the leaders around the world. Start adding all this up and what you got??????????

These are snippets taken from a 2000 article by alcohol concern.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/743878.stm

Alcohol Concern estimates alcohol abuse is costing Britain £3.3bn a year.

The biggest impact is on industry - £2.8bn is lost through sickness, unemployment and premature death.

But the Alcohol Concern study also found it cost the NHS £200m to treat drink-related illness.

John Ryan, spokesman for the British Association of Accident and Emergency Medicine and an accident and emergency specialist at Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, said emergency departments dealt with a huge amount of cases resulting from acute intoxication and chronic alcoholism.

He said: "I cannot underestimate the importance of alcohol in the workload of emergency departments - we would be out of business if it was not for alcohol."

Road accidents where drink is a factor cost £189m, and criminal activity linked with alcohol abuse is responsible for another £68m.

The report highlights a string of damning statistics about the impact of alcohol abuse.

Marriages where one or both partners have a drink problem are twice as likely to end in divorce as those not affected by alcohol.

Between 60 and 70% of men who assault their partners do so under the influence of drink.

Forty-one per cent of violent crimes, including assaults and muggings, are committed by somebody who has been drinking.

The report says alcohol abuse is a growing problem among children.

In the 11 to 15 age group, the average weekly consumption of alcohol among those who drink has almost doubled to 9.9 units in the last two years.

After drinking, one in seven of 16 to 24-year-olds had unprotected sex, one in five had sex they later regretted, and 10% could not even remember if they had had sex the previous night.

Forty per cent of 13- and 14-year-olds were "drunk or stoned" when they had their first sexual experience.

Eric Appleby, Alcohol Concern director, said: "Given this catalogue of problems, we would like to see the Government's promised National Alcohol Strategy introduced as a matter of urgency."

Among the proposals Alcohol Concern wants to see adopted are:

drink-drive limit cut from 80 milligrams to 50mgs of alcohol per 100mls of blood

police given wider breath-testing powers

bans on the sale of glass bottles in pubs

high-profile annual alcohol awareness campaign

better alcohol education for young people

more money for treatment and counselling

training for staff selling and serving alcohol

This is just in the uk alone in the year 2000 , multiply this by x amount for all the other countries in the world and then ill tell you the startling fact that compared with tobacco alcohol is small fry.

Ive just looked at the Australian government site concerning alcohol and tobacco.

Tobacco use is the major cause of drug- or alcohol-related deaths in Australia. In 1998, around 19,000 deaths were attributable to the use of tobacco, accounting for 80% of all drug- or alcohol-related deaths. The Burden of Disease and Injury in Australia study estimated that almost 10% of the total burden of disease in Australia in 1996 was attributable to tobacco smoking. The burden of disease methodology combines years of life lost due to premature death with years of living with disability.

Begs, your percentages are exaggerating. I do know that 97 percent of the population do not do cigs or alcohol on a constant everyday basis.

The research into the global burden of disease attributable to alcohol, tobacco and illicit drugs found that in 2000, tobacco use was responsible for 4.9 million deaths worldwide, equating to 71 percent of all drug-related deaths. Around 1.8 million deaths were attributable to the use of alcohol (26 percent of all drug-related deaths), and illicit drugs (heroin, cocaine and amphetamines) caused approximately 223,000 deaths (3 percent of all drug-related deaths).

Dave, try these figures. 71% + 26% = 97% .......... = 97% of all drug related deaths are from Government controlled and taxed drugs, 3% of all drug related deaths are from illicit drugs.

American here. :D

Great history lessons. I think I've learned more on this thread than my old history class. I think both the Brits and Americans have some very interesting comments.

Just remember though, that this very same aggression plagues the world today and have prompted humans to create some of the most sophisticated machines and with a push of a button...we would all be obsolete. :o

I do love Bass beer. Mmmm, tasty.

On a lighter note: who created the pizza? I've heard the origin is not Italy. Is that true?

OK back. Hmmmm, to Princess of your question. The answer is NO.

I cannot touch that stuff or I will be seeing the cleaners. My job requires absolute sanity and sound mind. It is you and I who fly these planes and many others. I cannot live a day if i was doped up and fixed a power plant (jet engine) and let it go to the sky. That would be putting you all in danger. My oath is sworn sealed and proper. My job is to protect your lives and keep you safe going from point a to point b.

Now I am trying to find the comments made from Mr. Vietnam. I heard he made an interesting post recently.

Where oh where oh where is the post, way down yonder!!!!!!!! in the pompom patch. B):o

I see the percentages posted here. Is this of Aussie and British facts combined???? If this is of both coming from a Monarchy then it should be marked in the Guiness Book of World Records.

Many times of what the British say and what the Aussies do is BACKWARDS. No wonder I see so many receding hair lines. :D

Now try reading Thai language, I still swear it is upside down and backwards. Yet it is so confounded to see it straight makes me need extra glasses to stabilize my brain.

Thai is not the only one so difficult to read. Try the Chinese or Korean or the Japanese. Now yes WWIII has begun. In Europe they are just starting to fight for power. A very scary thought. Seems to be the same scenario like before Germany became a force to reckon with. When will you Europeans ever learn????? B)

You see gang, America Leads Always, The Brits Join when possible. The people in Europe forgot who gave them a second chance in life. The people in Asia forgot who rescued them and too gave them a second chance in life.

Thailand I wonder how they made it smiling all those years. Britain I wonder if they realize calling birds are not girls. Sigh and so on. Americans say it right, a chick is a girl. In the animal kingdom Chicks are babes. See my point?????

So why does England call their girls birds????? Fancy that.
