A Stickman Gem

If i was a newbie to Thailand i'd be all "OMG! <deleted>! BBQ!", cancel tickets and then spend a nice week on blackpool beach..

As it is, this story should have begun with "And one time, at band camp..."

A little humour, a bit debatable - yet very creative.

These experiences are just your typical everyday stuff up here in the north. Sounds like he was actually lucky in his choice of buses. Up here it wouldn't be nearly so pleasant. It really sucks up here in the north...its alot more pleasant in the south.....definitely more pleasant in the south...definitely....

Other side of the coin. I got a bus/coach from BKK to Lumpang, but fell asleep and woke up (the driver woke me up) at Chang Mai - end of the line for this bus. When I get across that I had slept past my Thoern stop, the guy (driver) tells me to wait (in my seat). He then tells my GF (now the Mrs) who was also asleep, that he was going to go back in the morning, but he will make the return trip now and drop us off on the way. Which he did - gratis, no charge. Happy smile and a wave good bye when we got there in the small hours. Impressive I thought.

PS: I don't believe the story either. If she comes from a family powerful enough to make a difference to the police over the phone, then what's the chances she'd 'turn up' at his hotel room and stick her hand down his shorts? How did she know his hotel and room number? Did he give her his last name when chatting? A girl from a hi-so family would not go into a hotl reception asking for a guys room number then proceed to his room - she would know they would think she was a Pro - would the hotel give a prostitute the room number?

I have often dropped my wallet in the toilets of service stations (not very pocket-friendly those squat-over-a-hole loos) - most times Thais that have followed me in have either left it where it sat, or come running out to give it back to me.

I have had experinces similar to this, when i went to catch the bus upto the wifes house i got a taxi at 5am to the bus station, when i got there got out and paid the taxi and went into the bus station, i was then going to ring the wife to tell her i was on my way, unfortunately the wifes mobile which i had borrowed had fallen out of my pocket in the cab, so i rushed to the nearest phone and was just starting to ring it when who taps me on the shoulder? yep the taxi driver!!!! i was amazed fair play to him he had to turn around and come and find me in the bus station, he seemed very happy with a 200baht tip, also restored my faith in the fact there are decent people in this world :o

Haha, he has a way with words! Bus drivers are scum wherever you go!

Thai girl seems pretty desperate, was probably some crack-ho junkie trying to fleece the 6,000 baht from him?

So negative to Thailand. You won't last here very long.

Reminds me of this young chap many years ago :o . From a first time visitor to Thailand. :D

LETTER TO HICKSVILLE

by Scot Lansdown :D

Dear Mom,

Arrived safely at Bangkok International. Twenty taxi drivers all tried to help me at once. Still have some of my luggage. Asked the cabby to take me to a nice hotel and we got there about two hours later. His meter was broken so we settled on 5,000 Baths (the local currency). I tried to tip him but he wouldn’t take it. What a lovely introduction to Asia!

I must say that the hotels are very customer focused. You can check in and stay for just an hour if you like. It seems like a nifty idea as many people I saw were using this handy service to grab a quick 40 winks.

Giving massages is surely the national pastime here because everybody offers you one everywhere you go. If I get all stiff and achy, I may just take one of them up on it.

I must closely resemble some popular guy called ‘Far Lung’ because they all keep pointing and calling me that name. Even when I tell them ‘I am not Far Lung.’ they laugh and say ‘You Far Lung’. No use fighting it I s’pose. There are motorcycle gangs on every street corner but they are very friendly and constantly wave at me. Maybe this Far Lung character is a famous bikey or something.

Strikes me that the womenfolk are a little confused. They go to the beach fully clothed but wear bikinis to nightclubs. In fact some appear to forget to wear anything at all. On several occasions I shouted at them to put some clothes on but people always tell me to shut up. Must be a cultural thing just like when I buy an ice cream and it has beans and corn in it.

My guide has a most unfortunate name. He’s called Pong. Bad luck seems to follow him as he has two wives, one called Poo and the other called Bum. To top it all off they live in Bang Lamb Poo. I shouldn’t be surprised though as by far the most common names in Thailand are Nong and Pee. They’re very hard on themselves.

Females are obsessed with automobiles for they are incessantly saying ‘Car’ while the men are obviously annoyed by everything in life and simply say ‘Krap’ all the time.

The Thai language is real battle field. It all came to a head one night when I wanted to try some of their spicy food. I checked my pocket dictionary for the translation of the word ‘chili’ but was put off dang quick. I’ll be blowed if I’m going to sit in public restaurant and say ‘I’d like something with plenty of ‘prik’ in it please.’ Or order a Cow Pat. :D

All my love, Leroy.

-----------------------------------------------

Yours truly :D

Kan Win :D
