A friend of mine started up a medical tourism company for primarily targeting US citizens to have holiday cosmetic surgery packages in Cmai or BKK. As we all know touting BKK is not favoured right now...

He figured that people in groups from the same country, staying at the same hotel, going through similar experiences, although many having differing surgery. Would feel a lot safer than trying to have a go at medical tourism alone. The group concept may work, yet I suspect most prefer privacy. The holiday away for 2-4 weeks seems like a good concept. I guess the group is supposed to be support, as they do not have when leaving their country.

He is having trouble getting good doctors in CMAI. In BKK he has Yunhee Hospital and Yoskarn clinic (Dr Kunachuk). Still seeking affordable good clinics and hospitals for a whole array of procedures in CMai. Going on a makeover holiday for far less than the procedure price in their own country.

Dental is a apparantly a big hit, along with beast augmentaton, nose, etc.

I would be interested to know of anyone elses experiences with cosmetic surgery in CMai.

A while ago I had laser teeth whitening at Hospital RAM and it was a complete waste of 10K bt. Home bleaching teeth seems to be the main thing that works- yet a pain in the neck as the dentist states it must be worn all night preferably- which is annoying. FOR A MONTH. Anyway that is only 3K bt. Thapea Gate- V Smile. Also I had some laser resurfacing in BKK at Yoskarn. I have not been brave enough to go for a procedure where they put me to sleep- as I fear I will never wake up.

What about surgery in Cmai- I guess RAM would the more expensive option. You see these clinics in adverts, yet the prices seem Umm Ahhh- would you trust potentially your life to a clinic who charge $300 for lipo or a nose job, and throw in a chin- lol. Plus they do not seem to have seperately trained Anaestists here. The doctor and a couple of pretty young nurses apparently do the lot whilst you are asleep. One clinic I enquired at did not seem so clean in BKK at Pratunam. Plus I am sure the surgeon had been drinking.

Can anyone recommend good doctors\clinics\hospitals and for what procedures in CMai?

An x thai gf had the works performed by various clinics in BKK and CMai, at the cheapest prices she could find. All seem to have done well except she needed to go back 3 times for her nose. Breasts and chin looked fine. I guess then she got hooked and went for everything the quacks touted to her.... jaw thinning (actually chisel bone off your jaw) took months for swelling to subside, dimples, diamonds in teeth, etc. She seemed unconcerned about being put to sleep and most of her friends were fans of surgery as well. She transformed from a cute young thing to a very pretty lady. Making herself very confident in the process is what I saw as her main benefit- well that and her breasts- lol. :)

I am of the opinion that you do whatever you wish to make yourself feel happy and more confident. As long as you are not hurting anyone else. So I never had an issue. Well that and as long as it was her own money also. I think I shouted her one of the 6000bt nose jobs for a birthday once, yet she paid for the rest... Yet for me she got to a point of no return at only 28yo. I thought diamonds in teeth was going too far. Yet it is Thailand...

Anyway who is good in Cmai (Recommendations)?

Well, good luck with that as a business idea !

Second ThaiPauly's recommendation you post in the 'Health' forum here : http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Health-Body-Medicine-f23.html

Dental is a apparantly a big hit, along with beast augmentaton, nose, etc.

Our dental surgeon at Grace Clinic never hit us once, although we suspect he might have had the impulse.

Beast augmentation is not a procedure that can be performed, but a transubstantiation that is rarely experienced; the price of it for the human onesome, as they metamorphosize to a twosome, is mortality, but that is not to imply that, after the augmentation, immoratality (or death) is a result.

We know of no practitioners.

The reverse of anesthesia was subjectively experienced during the singularity of cross-species szygyz in our case: the closest description we've come across of the process is in the "Bardo Thodol" or "Tibetan Book of the Dead," although the opening forty pages of Normal Mailer's "Ancient Evenings" really evokes the process (a book Mailer worked on for eleven years, and which was not reviewed favorably by critics, but, nevertheless was a beastseller in its times).

I had a feeling that orang37 would jump on that typo of beast augmentation. Sure enough!

I will not say which hospital but I will say that 3 years ago a young woman who lived down the road had nose surgery. 3 days later she died due to complications from infection.

Chiang Mai really wouldn't be on my list for medical treatment. BKK is the best for surgeries, but then have them recoup here.

Be very careful about recommending CM doctors or hospitals if it is your business for tourism. You may be held accountable, and Thai malpractice does not protect most people. One woman went blind from a doctors mistake and she was awarded 100,000 baht.

Good luck. I think that the business idea is a great one, perhaps not in this economy but that will change, but I do think that CM as a venue just isn't practical for most high end clients.

Several very good facilities here on Phuket, notably the Bangkok Hospital Phuket for both the cosmetics and dental. Also the Phuket International and quite a few clinics.

I wish your friend well. It does seem like a tough market to crack under the best of conditions and harder still to imagine CM pulling the level of cosmetic surgery tourists to keep things afloat. The packages available in BKK are pretty competitive and anyone from the USA who is scared away from Bangkok by the political situation is hardly likely to know enough about CM to think it any safer. Phuket is surely going to get a better name recognition from people from outside Thailand shopping for browlifts (not that there's anything wrong with them) who want a discreet vacation attached. Having experienced such procedures the idea of traveling with a group comparing bruises doesn't do it for me personally at all, but I'm not much of a joiner in the first place.

So we have Grace Dental, which I believe is in Sripat Hospital as a recommendation.

Yet no takers on any surgeon recommendations? Naturally i thought the competition in BKK was a lot more.

Maybe CMai will not be an option. I guess you have the Sripat and RAM Hospitals at approx. half to a third of the cost of back home.

These surgeons offer better value in their own clinics.

I still think it a little scary to be put asleep here, unless you confident in the medical services.

Especially a Clinic- many thai girls opt for the cheapest of prices in the Clinics. Aka my x-gf who had the works. Now it difficult to tell her real age. She was already a cute girl, yet some of us are never happy until perfection. Which is not acheiveable in reality.

I owned and operated a GH a few years ago and i recall I guy going in for Jaw implants. To have the chieseled features of a B. Pitt or J. Depp... I thought a bit over the top... yet if makes im more confident and happy then I hope it all worked out for him.

In the GH he hide out for a couple of months then headed back to USA to get into modelling. Hope it all worked out for him.

The spell check does not work- so apologies for spelling errors. Cheers.
