Kata Temple Traffic Lights

Featured Replies

The new lights at Kata Temple have been permanently on flashing orange since their installation. Well, it was the school holidays and they surely only want them for when the school is open.

This morning the school was back so what do we see? Working traffic lights? No, lights turned off and two policemen controlling the traffic.

Maybe they'll be used later in the week or even this afternoon.

Or will they ever be used?

Any bets?

The only times I have seen them working was when there was little traffic. When the traffic seems heaviest they are on flash. Also, only about a 50% of traffic actually stops at them when there are operating. TIT.

Are you sure school started? I though it was starting on the 17th, so next week.

Some schools started last week.....some started today....some will start next week

The lights are purely a decor addition

Maybe they'll work again next week.

But at least they're not dangerous, like the walking light opposite the OrBorTor office. Tourists press the button, and expect the cars to actually stop when they get the red light. But that hardly ever happens there.
